A lot of us were probably too young to actually watch him play. He was a member of the front office in 1976, so he was part of that SB team. He was an amazing ambassador for this team and sport. RIP.
My old roommate and I always would stop at his Burger King in Auburn, Ca when we drive over the hill from Reno (to concerts, Sharks, and Raider games) back in the 80/90s. There was some interesting memorabilia on the walls.
I believe his brother owned a bunch of 00 Liquors throughout the Bay Area. They're still one around the corner from my house but I don't think the family owns it any longer.
One of my first jobs was working at Applebee’s in Auburn and he was a part owner. He was always cool as hell when he came in, very nice to all of the employees.
My wife and I both worked at that Burger King for a short stint while we were in high school (80’s). It was our first real job. He would come in from time to time, and was always very approachable.
That burger king was the go to dinner stop after a tahoe ski trip on the drive back to the bay area. I loved seeing the memorabilia. It was the blue collar version of Canton.
Went on a backpacking trek for a few days as a kid, eating MREs and deviled ham and lots of GORP, and on the last day, the prospect of that Burger King was the only thing to look for on our final 10 mile hike out, mainly for a cool Dr. Pepper. We had a "Jim Otto Burger King" chant as we descended.
My grandpa lived in Auburn and was good friends with Jim Otto. As a kid I loved going into Jim's Burger King and looking at the Raiders memorabilia. And growing up as a Raiders fan, my eyes almost popped out of my head when my grandpa took me to Jim Otto's house on "00 Estates Drive." Jim was one of the nicest guys you could ever me. Also, even after he retired, he had an auroa of don't try me. Jim was nice enough to sign a copy of his book for me a few years ago. He was such a an inspiration, and still is to this day. RIP 00 🙏
X10 All Pro and arguably the best center of all time. He was the first Raider ever drafted, and never missed a game. He stands alongside Stabler, Al Davis, Tatum, and Madden as guys who epitomized what it meant to be a true Raider, Rest in peace.
RIP to a literal goat. Not just someone called goat because it’s cool to say.
Wish I got to see you play, sir, but thank you anyways. The franchise I get to root for isn’t what it is without you.
A real hard ass player! 210 games played, 210 starts! Over 15 seasons! You’ll never see that ever again…I was too young to actually witness it but I know if this man due to my father and the Raider legacy that he passed on to me by watching the old NFL films at a young age. I will be getting his jersey soon.
Why is everyone dying? Just feels like this last year countless famous people have died. Carl Weather, OJ Simpson, Jimmy Johnson... That's just in the NFL, but it really feels like people are dropping like flies
As we get older, the Rolodex of famous people we have in our head also get older. People die and the older we are the more likely we are to the names that aren’t popular today but we’re at some point in our lives.
I knew about him as a little kid even before I became a Raider fan. He owned the Burger King in Rocklin, CA where I lived and they had a life sized cut out of him in the entrance way.
RIP to a legend.
I gave my table up to him at a game in the stadium club west. They upgraded my seats and we also got to go on the field before the game in ‘03. He was a great guy. His Burger King in Auburn, Ca was also a regular stop back in the day. RIP 00
RIP Jim Otto. Saw him play when I was just a kid at the end of his career, he was still a force to be reckoned with. The man held nothing back, gave better than get got, left it ALL on the field. RIP Mr Raider.
Watched a documentary on his life after Football. It was horrifying to watch him wake up and get out of bed in the morning. So hard for him to do as well as hard to watch. So many injuries he playred through.Really affected the rest oh his life.
My high school algebra teacher was one of the football coaches and had a Jim Otto poster in his classroom that detailed all of the injuries he played with. Dude once played a game with a detached retina! Can you imagine squaring up to a huge beastly lineman with an eyeball halfway hanging out his face, likely snarling at you?!
Rip jim otto thanks for everything you put your body through for the team and the fans. At least he's no longer in pain he mentioned the crazy amount on surgeries he's had and the pain he had to deal with everyday.

RIP JIM, BOUGHT THIS A COUPLE DAYS BEFORE HIS PASSING
A lot of us were probably too young to actually watch him play. He was a member of the front office in 1976, so he was part of that SB team. He was an amazing ambassador for this team and sport. RIP.
I was lucky enough to see him play in 1973. As a kid that 00 holds a prominent place in my mind's eye. RIP Mr. Otto!
Still a name we all knew.
My old roommate and I always would stop at his Burger King in Auburn, Ca when we drive over the hill from Reno (to concerts, Sharks, and Raider games) back in the 80/90s. There was some interesting memorabilia on the walls.

For years I saw his billboard every time I came back from the Bay Area. I never did stop in though.
I've been to that Burger King a few times when I was a kid. So cool to see that memorabilia in there.
Same here. Cool to see that in a BK.

This dude was a beast. I’m glad he got to live a long life considering how hard he played.
RIP to a literal goat. Not just someone called goat because it’s cool to say. Wish I got to see you play, sir, but thank you anyways. The franchise I get to root for isn’t what it is without you.

One of the [toughest](https://x.com/ol_timefootball/status/1372392214198771714?s=46&t=_NJWaKIlCumP_D3VOLBODQ) to ever do it. Rest easy, king.
RIP 00 RNFL.
RIP Mr Otto! Good lord he was a Raider if I ever saw one
He was before my time watching, but my pops told me about the Raiders before. I was born into it. RIP to an Oakland Raider Legend.

The 1 true guarantee in life
He was 86 which is pretty long lived for a male of his era.
which jimmy johnsom you referring to? cowboys coach? hes still around somehow
No, the hall of fame 49er corner who died last week. I live in the bay area so it was all over the news
As we get older, the Rolodex of famous people we have in our head also get older. People die and the older we are the more likely we are to the names that aren’t popular today but we’re at some point in our lives.
Long term health effects of football arent too nice
I knew about him as a little kid even before I became a Raider fan. He owned the Burger King in Rocklin, CA where I lived and they had a life sized cut out of him in the entrance way. RIP to a legend.
RIP to a fucking legend
RIP and Godspeed
I gave my table up to him at a game in the stadium club west. They upgraded my seats and we also got to go on the field before the game in ‘03. He was a great guy. His Burger King in Auburn, Ca was also a regular stop back in the day. RIP 00
Yeah I've been a Diehard Raiders fan since 1980 and I never saw him play but I did see his bay area Liquor stores and his commitment to the franchise.
RIP Jim Otto. Saw him play when I was just a kid at the end of his career, he was still a force to be reckoned with. The man held nothing back, gave better than get got, left it ALL on the field. RIP Mr Raider.
00. Wish I was old enough to see him play.
The only player who not only the Raiders but the entire NFL retired his number 00. Rip
RIP to the player who truly embodied the Raiders, and was our best franchise player of all time.
A BEAST. The last time I saw his picture was hanging in the Coliseum. Was he the longest living Raider?
On the Top 10 Raiders he was #0 cuz we cheat so NFL films added a spot. Perfect
Embodied EVERYTHING great about the Raiders. Thank you for the inspiration, Mr. Otto.
" The Center of The Universe "
RIP to one of the greats.
R.I.P. What a true legend of the game, on and off the field.
I met him in the suites’ concessions area in Oakland. I tried not to geek out, but I probably did.
Greatest center ever.
Watched a documentary on his life after Football. It was horrifying to watch him wake up and get out of bed in the morning. So hard for him to do as well as hard to watch. So many injuries he playred through.Really affected the rest oh his life.

That was from a hit by Ray Nitschke that broke his face mask and his cheekbone. Stayed in the game like a G though.
No …., “I” can’t imagine doing that but I can believe Jim Otto did.
Double O-No! I know he has been in bad health for a while. Still, RIP to a great one. Maybe the greatest center in NFL history.
Got to meet him when I was like 10, and he signed my autobiography. RIP GOAT.
Rip jim otto thanks for everything you put your body through for the team and the fans. At least he's no longer in pain he mentioned the crazy amount on surgeries he's had and the pain he had to deal with everyday.
I saw him play a ton!!! He was a huge warrior!!!!!!!!!!!
