I have a theory that Mary-Kate and Ashley were once one very powerful intergalactic sorcerers who was split in twain. Mary Kate is a dark mage with a heart of gold, and Ashley is a light mage who uses her powers for evil. They labored intensely trying to amalgamate and recombine and Elizabeth Olsen is a product of this labor. Heath Ledger got too close and learned too much. Ashley told Mary-Kate that Mary-Kate knew what she needed to do with her dark magic.
There are not two separate Olsen girls. There is just one moving back and forth too fast for the human eye to perceive. Like Roger, the alien from America Dad.
