I just finished my last year of college this past May. It was... The sweetest sugar rush turned into bitter sweet longing for a simpler time that I only once experienced after leaving military service prior to college. "We're almost done!" "Just like 9 more credits!" "Have you applied for jobs yet?" "Hey when do they start selling caps and gowns?" "I just got two more big projects then I'm finished!" "Can't wait for my internship!" My last 3 courses, I took with the same 5 dudes as we had all the big senior project based courses left. The various Discord servers were alive and thriving with programming memes and discussions about that week's current assignment, or talks about what would be on the midterm. At the end of every semester, I would always ask the other students how they did on the finals, followed by a "GG y'all" from me. And that's how the servers now look, ghost towns with libraries of conversations from the past, forever a fond memory for me. "To those graduating, GG!" Be strong dude, it'll feel like taking a plunge into the abyss. I've been there, they've been there, you'll get there too. Do your best to prepare for what you can now, and really savor every last moment of the college life.

Ripping the bandaid off, it's exactly as bad as you imagine it is if not worse

Toxic_MotionDesigner

I'm moving to uni in a few months so this hits hard. Just had my last hangout with my friends like 2 days ago

Simple_Opossum

You'll have an awesome time. Don't be afraid, the best years of your life are still ahead of you.

As you're walking into the club, I'm walking out (just graduated), dude, you're in for so many new experiences and people. Keep your home town homies close, let em know you're still there and you still care. Maybe somewhere down the line you'll see them again, they'll be different, you'll be different, but what will always hold the homies close is the memories you made in your younger years.

Lol....maybe 15-20% of guys can even relate to this which is more sad. Most guys don't have friends and out of those that do, most don't actually hang out with their friends especially at each other's house.

Become a public school teacher! Summers off! or not for all those other reasons...

Speedking2281

I remember this hitting me in the summer between 11th and 12th grade. I had 7-8 lawns I maintained for people, and I was working most days (for myself). And it hit me, that I'll never again have a carefree summer where I don't have a job of some type. I'm 43, and I still remember this lightbulb moment. Sad, yes. But, it's sad in the way that this quote is sad: *When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.* It's sad because it signals an entry into a new part of life. But it shouldn't be actually *sad-*sad.
