They likely don’t roll like that all the time. There must have been some kind of threat, recently or locally. Most corporations hate spending that much on executive protection unless necessary. That level of protection always has to be justified to the shareholders.

Low_Breakfast3669

How much $$$ we talking about for a detail like that? Even if it's a couple hundred grand that's pennies to a major Healthcare company.

ZeroSumSatoshi

Well, if they maintain 3 vehicles and 2 security per vehicle all the time. We are talking multi millions per year.

Annual-Concept-9033

They usually rent them out for a lot shorter, but there are times I’ve seen $1.2 million on security for a 72 hour event, all rented equipment and personnel.

This☝️

cityonahillterrain

“University” this probably has a lot to do with the nation wide protests and isn’t normal operating procedure.

TheRealPSN

that's highly unusual. I work for a fortune 100 company and our CEO has one full time EPO, two when he travels. He usually shows up in a bus style limo with his executive staff and his EPO usually shows up in a fleet vehicle. When he's inside our building his EPO doesn't even stay with him.

Dan_1066

Do you have any idea how many people have developed unbridled hatred toward the people running various healthcare insurance companies? Their business model is basically to be a middleman between you, your doctor and anything you need. The more difficult and cruel they can make the process, the better, as long as “line go up” and the shareholders are happy. I’m not surprised at all. Some of the big ones probably have more security than tinpot dictators in countries that are actively at war, and they probably need it. A byproduct of their business model is generating a mass of bankrupt people with dead loved ones who may feel they have nothing to lose.

This-is-Life-Man

They are the ones actually running the country after all, lol

hiding_behind_beard

Joel Osteen had a convoy of five SUVs

Odd_Shirt_3556

But 4 SUV’s carry the money he worships..

hiding_behind_beard

In the pockets of the ugly suits worn by his protection detail 🤣

Landwarrior5150

The CEO probably just has a big ego and wants to feel super important. To add one more data point to what you already described, we had a state assemblyman visit one of our community colleges campuses last year for an event. He was accompanied by two armed plainclothes State Assembly Sergeants-at-Arms and arrived in a simple black sedan, but nothing more.

Ws6fiend

We had a senator and congressman come by our nuclear plant years ago. It was just two armed police. I found it laughably quaint considering.

CaptainLucid420

Knowing this is knowing addition by subtraction. Subtract the CEO with an over inflated ego and everyone else does better. Not common at all. I have worked security at trade shows for companies worth way more money and their CEOs don't do this. Out of all the people in the convoy you know who has the smallest dick.

Ageminet

The university protests make this seem more likely. I’d say a month or two ago and this might’ve been a lower key thing.

GentlyUsedOtter

I worked security for Aetna in Hartford, CT, and every day the CEO would come to work being driven in a large black SUV. Although on a really nice day he would come in on his motorcycle..........being followed by the large black SUV. Although I never really saw him traveling in a motorcade.

marinebjj

Now yes, my wife works higher up for a big insurance company. The info the ceo has is insane, so I could see why they do.

See: big Pharma money 🤷🏼‍♂️

Liberobscura

Most executives wear two or three suits and may have access clearance to special access information and controlled technologies that have been subsidized by asymmetric development programs from within the clandestine world. That kind of expense is generally indicative of pharma information or proprietary research and development.

Axenrott_0508

I work in EP. Some are public figures, others are ultra high net worth executives. It tracks. Governors/politicians will have a ton of security, decoy cars and police escorts and all. I never really saw a mayoral motorcade, but for a big city like New York or Los Angeles it wouldn’t surprise me.

DRealLeal

I am a police officer, and any business can request police officers for the right price. In my city, places usually have to pay 50-120/hr per police officer if they want them. Some places hire them so we can guard their work cookouts and stuff lol I made 800 in a day literally just by watching a church service. We have a plain clothes police officer who is our mayor's personal bodyguard also. He only makes 70k a year, but he gets a ton of OT.

ZyxDarkshine

You can’t trust anti-vax nutjobs

Xx_Thornnn_xX

It’s normal and if they can’t afford it, they’ll just fire 400 people from the company to set the money straight for it

SnooHobbies5684

I'm guessing it had more to to do with the fact that it was a university graduation and he brought people than that he thinks he's a bigwig. I've worked security at major university graduations and at festivals and graduation is more of a nightmare lol
