I don't mind and it's not like the series is a hidden gem.
But I'm not looking forward to the 61915 threads every week titled "Carrie sucks/is awful/is a bad friend/is an idiot/[.....]" from folks who discover or rediscover the show.
I'm we already seem to get these every so often lol. As long as they keep that shit on TikTok š I'm happy to engage with new viewers of the show including those discovering it for the first time.
But to answer, no. I donāt care and it does not bother me that a tv show is streaming on a streaming platform. I donāt really understand your post - the show streaming on a new platform shouldnāt have any effect on your personal relationship with it?
Iām getting a vibe that youāre probably a younger fan? It might be harder to grasp how huge of a cultural impact this show had, and how it is known and loved worldwide. Though Iām 24 myself but my mother loved this show when I was a kid, and the cultural impact of it dawned on me pretty early on because of that.
So there is nothing to gatekeep, really.
Donāt, itās a very juvenile look tbh. I remember thinking gatekeeping is cool when I was 12 and thought I was the only person in the world to discover the Hunger Games lol
Exactly. EVERYONE knows about this show. There is absolutely nothing to gatekeep, especially since the show has been streaming on HBO for years and years.
Itās great that itās on Netflix! Yay! Everyone enjoy. However, I do think it will bring about think pieces and tiktok videos of a new age of people being offended by the show that was made 25yrs ago. I donāt want my favorite show of all time ruined because people are watching to be offended and not to be entertained.
yes!! its one or the few shows i can rewatch a lot, put on a random episode, or leave in the background and just feel comfy. it makes me wish i could be living in the 90s rn and idk i just love the 90s already with the fashion and vibes and everything. then watching satc just adds to it with the music and her narrating and the random topics. seriously its been like four days now and i only reslly watch that when i can š„ŗ ill prolly get sick of it at one point and take a break but wahh im so happy its on netflix
I miss the 90's. SOOO bad!!!
NY these days is nothing like the on in the show, hence the reason I come back to it a lot. those seemed to be the TIMES!!!
I've been into SATC since it first began to air (I was 19 years old - maybe too young to get it back then). It is my go-to comfort and friendships as well. I bought all of the DVDs too, but I am so not bothered that it's on Netflix. Instead of having to hook up my DVD player or deal with remotes and all of that stuff - I can just turn on Netflix.
True Blood is on Hulu now. I'm not mad at that either.
I watched the first four or five episodes again and realized that Carrie was in a different "apartment" early on. The apartment set in the pilot episode seemed a lot more run down, shabby and more realistic given Carrie's finances compared to the set they used later on in the series.
I also realized that SJP, although not a conventional beauty, was very charming and sexy back then and had a lovely smile. She had great screen presence and was a delightful comedienne until her performance started to become very mannered around S5.
Before Samantha moved to the meatpacking district, were she, Carrie and Charlotte all on the UES? Miranda was on the UWS, wasn't she?
Itās been there for me since like 2005ā¦ I was about 14 (I know, young!) and my mom watched in the 90s. I often say itās raised me. My best friend and I shared the entire 5 seasons dvd box set.
I donāt mind BUT remember when it came out on E! And that was the first time a lot of people saw it and it was SO edited ofc. That made me so mad when people were becoming fans but they werenāt even seeing the real show. Silly I know lol.

Nymag just made a piece of it by interviewing GenZ who watched it for the first time
Ooops! Was just about to post. I will leave it at after multiple decades of viewing since original air, it's hitting different this time around.
Are you gatekeeping one of the most well known shows in history ššš
But to answer, no. I donāt care and it does not bother me that a tv show is streaming on a streaming platform. I donāt really understand your post - the show streaming on a new platform shouldnāt have any effect on your personal relationship with it?
Sounds a little elitist, for lack of a better word. Ooh, itās our secret show. Now the peasants have access to it!

More users on this sub to be expected now, which means more discussion! Sounds good to me
Imagine trying to gatekeep a 20 year old TV show š
Exactly. EVERYONE knows about this show. There is absolutely nothing to gatekeep, especially since the show has been streaming on HBO for years and years.

Dude, those are my jam every time I go to Vegas. But the older ones with four games at once lol!

yes that is correct. all of them lived in the UES and it was Miranda on the west, who gradually made her way towards Brooklyn

Iām happy as long as nobody tells me I should have mentioned something was a spoiler.
Not in the UK š

I donāt think itās on Netflix in Canada either!
This show takes me back to the 90ās ā¤ļø my best decade IMO. I only wished I was a grown up in the 90ās.
Everyone who mentions āgatekeeperā is a Carrie sorry š
