I spoke to my father on the phone the other day.
We talked about how he’s coping with his broken back and leg, he’s recovering through rehab.
He’s been prescribed marijuana and started smoking it at night.
On the phone, he said he got high the other night and put on some random Adam Sandler movie. He said whilst super high there is this big ass Spider and he said it took up his entire room.
He said it was the most wildest shit he’s ever seen whilst high lol.
I once was in Prague (not kidding) and visiting my then girlfriends friends who were these two guys who cured their own weed.
So we started smoking - I’m not a weed guy, and after two puffs I felt different…
Then one of her friends put Narnia on and the talking Lion - whilst I was high - was incredible. I felt like he was talking to me because the other 3 were so normal. I wasn’t sure if he was talking in the movie or just to me…
I’ve never seen the film since. Or read any books. Or smoked weed. I’m just keeping that as an amazing memory.
Surreal and fucked up.
One of the first times I got super high my brother decided to put on a movie called “Kung Fury” and I gotta say the term “Cinematic Masterpiece” doesn’t even begin to describe how fucking insane that movie was
I feel Adam sandler waited way to long to do more serious roles , he’s honestly a decent actor and he’s dabbled in serious roles before like punch drunk love and funny people but he seems a little past his prime now , if he were to have been in inglorious bastards I think it could’ve really improved his career and finally him out of being type casted as a loser guy
Click was pretty dumb but did have a good ending , that’s what I mean in alot of these bad sandler movies it seems he has a good idea for a concept but it always gets lost in the plot bevause the producers need those poo jokes
I was expecting the price is wrong, bitch when I watched click. I almost think he did it on purpose knowing the ending was going to screw with people. The entire thing was typical Adam Sandler up til the last 20 minutes, I'd I remember it right.
I honestly think Adam sandler just chose to share the wealth with him and his buddy’s and that meant just being in easy comedy movies that guaranteed a pay check for him and his crew , but now that he’s gotten older it seems he’s trying to get out of that and into more challenging roles .
I think that's it. Will Farrell has done some serious roles as well, likewise with Bruce Willis who started out acting on comedies on TV.
Will Farrell in punch drunk love is a great drama, although thinking about it the character is similar to the one he played in the other guys.
That’s what I mean , I feel like if he would’ve been in inglorious bastards he could’ve completely reinvented himself and finally gotten out of that goofy type cast were he plays a loser who makes funny noises 😂
I mean like him or hate him Sandler has been just making his own movies for years, it's not like he didn't have a choice he just probably liked and made more money doing goofy comedies and while he may not be a renowned actor for it he's still done well for himself doing so.
The concept of this film reminds me of Swiss Army Man. A figure (real or not) helps the main character understand himself through ridiculous methods lol.
Totally real. They discuss the possibility of him not being real during the naming of the spider but that last bit was a throwaway to allow for the suspension of disbelief.
Definitely realsies though.
1. It’s not dated in the movie, but it’s sometime in the 90s.
2. It’s an alternate timeline where there is more advanced technology, plus a lot of countries have space programs in that decade (obviously Czech Republic, but also South Korea is shown).
That being said, in the movie it’s the Czech Republic, but we see it as Czechoslovakia in a flashback to his father.
Lots of mind rape in this movie. Plus, Sandler plays a highly trained astronaut on a year-long incredibly dangerous mission. Where's the space spider for his wife who dumped him while in space? I feel like she could learn a couple of life lessons. Pure ridiculousness. It's OK to be an introvert professional who needs a lot of space (pun intended). He never abuses his wife. Sure, he could've used some counseling, but hell, so could we all.
she had a miscarriage which he refused to leave his job to be with her then right after she got pregnant again he ran away again. he is the bad guy its like the whole point of the movie that he comes to terms with that
I remember reading the book this is based off of a few years ago (Spaceman of Bohemia) and really enjoying it. The movie adaptation is fine, but the book is definitely better.
I can't dig serious Sandler. It doesn't work for me. The movie was alright. I feel like I should rewatch it. The whole time i was like man I shoulda just watched the episode of Futurama, when Bender is floating through space. You know the one
Hang on.. 'cause I may have missed the great message here.. I fell asleep some 5-6 times while watching this. So Sandler is in space exploring a weird cloud around Jupiter. There's a spider giving relationship advices. He ventures out the ship to catch him. And.. he ends up in a south korean ship??? What did I miss?
I love when this sub just describes a movie.
This is not a shitty detail about a movie this is a detail about a shitty movie
It has gotten mixed to average reviews.
Oh yeah that wasn't really a statement about the quality of the movie, more about the type of post. Haven't seen this one.
I love how he attempts a moderate Czech accent for the first line of the film and reels it in moments later
Why even make him Czech at that point?
The original book was Czech
He forgot to Czech that off his bucket list.
This poster goes so hard, ngl.
Returnal vibes

I was once in Cleveland (for real) and visiting the local sandwich shop.
Surreal and fucked up indeed
But what animals / insects spoke to you?
The sandwiches
Sandwiches don’t speak. Lol. Fuck outta here.
They do in Cleveland
My lion would eat your sandwich. And give me a running commentary. 😶🌫️
One of the first times I got super high my brother decided to put on a movie called “Kung Fury” and I gotta say the term “Cinematic Masterpiece” doesn’t even begin to describe how fucking insane that movie was
Czechoslovakian?
it’s pronounced “Spuh-chee-man”
Dr Spaceman!
Guy was an interior decorator!
His house looked like shit.

I liked uncut gems. Click was pretty good even if I didn't see the ending coming.
Are people completely forgetting about Spanglish? Was it that forgettable?
Click was pretty dumb but did have a good ending , that’s what I mean in alot of these bad sandler movies it seems he has a good idea for a concept but it always gets lost in the plot bevause the producers need those poo jokes

Funny that you mention Funny People, because that film is the reason why he wasn't in Inglourious Basterds, since they were filming at the same time
That’s what I mean , I feel like if he would’ve been in inglorious bastards he could’ve completely reinvented himself and finally gotten out of that goofy type cast were he plays a loser who makes funny noises 😂
The Bear Jew isn't that big of a role
which role was he gonna get?
He was going to play the Bear Jew. Eli Roth eventually played the role
Did none of you see Reign Over Me? With him and Don Cheadle? It’s the saddest movie ever and he is outstanding in it
I mean like him or hate him Sandler has been just making his own movies for years, it's not like he didn't have a choice he just probably liked and made more money doing goofy comedies and while he may not be a renowned actor for it he's still done well for himself doing so.
I really liked him in Hustle as well. I'm not that big of a fan in his comedies, but I do really like his serious roles.
Reign over me too
"Giant talking spider" That's just Rob Schneider!
The stapler guy?
The concept of this film reminds me of Swiss Army Man. A figure (real or not) helps the main character understand himself through ridiculous methods lol.
It was a really moving movie. Though skinny human gave vibes he would not really change. At least Hanüs got to taste home again.
Hanuš
Ohhh tyty
You know the spider wasn’t real, right?
Hanuš was real, there a lots of subtle hints. And if you are lazy, he was real according to the director, skinny human.
In what did he stick his dick in then? Hm?
American Pie
A woman >!that was actually just him dressed in drag playing his own twin sister!<
One day me god willing 🙏🙏🙏
if the spider wasn't real how did it disrupt his comms at that one point
Totally real. They discuss the possibility of him not being real during the naming of the spider but that last bit was a throwaway to allow for the suspension of disbelief. Definitely realsies though.
He was real , someone from the writers team confirmed it
Stop, stop, stop, you don't need to sell me even more on this movie!
If that movie is not placed before 1993 I will nipple cripple someone.
1. It’s not dated in the movie, but it’s sometime in the 90s. 2. That being said, in the movie it’s the Czech Republic, but we see it as Czechoslovakia in a flashback to his father.
Thanks for clarification, no nipples shall be crippled today.
It’s a future where Czechia and Slovakia reunite
I liked it
He’s not a Czechoslovakian astronaut. He’s a Czech astronaut. Czechoslovakia ceased to exist at the end of 1992.
TBF the movie does take place in the 90's (but probably after the dissolution because of the way they refer to their country), so OP was almost right
Written by Awesom-O
It's pretty good. I liked it.
Good doctor who scene right there
No such thing as Czechoslovakia.
Wait, is that an astronaut in a pond?
I haven’t seen it, but this description alone reminds me of the Daniel Radcliffe farting corpse movie.
Unfortunately, due to a conflict in schedules, Rob Schneider was unable to play the Spider.
Lots of mind rape in this movie. Plus, Sandler plays a highly trained astronaut on a year-long incredibly dangerous mission. Where's the space spider for his wife who dumped him while in space? she had a miscarriage which he refused to leave his job to be with her then right after she got pregnant again he ran away again. he is the bad guy its like the whole point of the movie that he comes to terms with that
I disagree. My original point stands. He's not a "bad" guy. We all are complicated. I think she could use some counseling too.
Yeah complicated is a lot more correct than just bad guy
"Skinny human". Paul Dano as the spider is unforgettable. Masterpiece.
The way he spoke reminded me of Dr Manhattan
You mean this isn’t a 30 Rock spinoff about the life and times of Dr Leo Spaceman?? Because I’d watch that.
It was honestly worth the watch.
Imo this is genuinely a fantastic movie. A strong 8.5/10 for me
"I'm laughing already" "It's not a comedy!"
I have been a big fan of Adam Sandler Netflix movies, but this one did not connect with me.
The fact that the poster is going for a super serious and aesthetic vibe, given what the actual content of the film is, powerful energy.
Ah finally the biopic about Travey Jordan's doctor
I remember reading the book this is based off of a few years ago (Spaceman of Bohemia) and really enjoying it. The movie adaptation is fine, but the book is definitely better.
Surprisingly, the spider isn't voiced by Rob Schneider
Does Adam, at one point, play one on one basketball with the spider?
That sounds awesome actually
He fucks that giant spider (I think)
Yeah alright, I'll watch that
Movie is dope. Adam Sandler in a great one room show. Mans has got range.
I can't dig serious Sandler. It doesn't work for me. The movie was alright. I feel like I should rewatch it. The whole time i was like man I shoulda just watched the episode of Futurama, when Bender is floating through space. You know the one
Smooth-talking, multi-eyed tentacle monster stole the show for me.
I both love and hate Adam Sandler for making me emotional over a giant talking spider.
This was such a boring and pointless movie.
The book is complete crap. A waist of life to read
Why would anyone cast Adam Sandler.
Because the few times he has actually done semi serious roles he has done them quite well.
Honestly given how silly this movie is he did a good performance seriously, it's not like he's just like oh giant spider that's normal
Movie was so stupid
this movie sucked.

Lmao wtf
