For the warcry warbands, it's always a little sad to lose options, but it did feel that they were in S2D because it was the best fit for them rather than them being the best fit for it?

Sad to see them go but Warcry already has limited reruns and stock issues - then they made Splintered fang the best Slaves to Darkness unit.
Even though the sculpts are fantastic, many STD players will be happy to have Darkoath as their cultist unit, GW will be happy as it will be a cohesive identity for the army, for marketing purposes.
STD players will have the blow softened and not have to wait 6 months on stock and $150 on whatever the flavour of the month warband is, for 60 points.
Yeah, the cultists were a struggle. In the end I just got some Frostgrave units and kitbashed them.
Local Tournament were pretty lax and for pick up games it worked well but I would’ve loved the proper sculpts.
That might have been part of the reason? Too good for us, not profitable enough (when compared with us spending £20 per individually-sold model) for them?
AW MAN. I'm crying here. These were the minis that brought me back INTO the game. The cultists are far more interesting than anything else in S2D.
I really wish they just made a generic "cultist" unit type, which could use any warcry band you wanted.
Half tempted to just rebase them and use them as Marauders or Legionnaires.
Also surprised that some of the Beastmen ^aren’t folded into S2D.
Perhaps there will be a more generic cultist warscroll when the Dark Oath are released. I'm sure the Marauders are going to be replaced by something else in 4th edition.
Kitbashing the warcry bands with the darkoath. The warcry bands aren't going to be made. What's on the store is it. I'd buy them up if I could though.
The model scarcity will make it difficult.
I'm not all in for this change :-/ I get it, but it's still a blow. Mostly because of my hugen investment into the cultists. Just finished my 8 Unmade. Hard to get motivated to finish my 16 iron golems and 16 Corvus cabal. Still get to play with them with friends at least.
Well you could still paint them or put them on eBay. I think there will be a rush for them now that they are discontinued. Especially Splinterd Fangs and Khagra's ravagers.
Dude, I don't even play competitive, I play just with friends, "power player" is just a wrong definition of me. I think that everyone who bought warcry bands is "Angry". You are just mean with your comment.
It is sad as those models had such character. However the silver lining is that if you grab the kits or already own them, you can still kitbash them with your other units if you fancy something different. That's my plan anyway.
Tbh I’m not all that sad about the cultists. Their models were neat, but they were expensive kits and didn’t do a lot in the game. They also really bloated the range in my opinion. But they are mostly good looking kits, so it is a shame.
Why did they throw the Khagra's ravagers down the drain !?!?! They were such a cool unit model wise, with proxis for other lords... But they let us keep the other 2 Warcry units... Can't help be feel they did it on purpose...

The only mini's im surprised to see go is Kharga's Ravagers, they make for good champions and the sorcerer is good.

Rumors have it that all marauders will become “darkoath marauders” (as seen in the upcoming darkoath box)
Not just rumors, GW confirmed this on Twitter. The old sculpts will be replaced with the new Darkoath units.
They are still going to be part of slaves to darkness though.
I'm sure you could just proxy them in as marauders and your opponents most likely won't be bothered
A generic cultist unit with 10 different upgrades to represent the warbands would be ideal for me.
only upside is that I might be able to buy some of the outgoing SCE secondhand to convert to chaos warriors. but man.

Gnarlspirt pack (Sarrakkar Blackwing) and Godsworns Hunt (Theddra Skullscryer). They were both more played but don't have the same proxi potential...
Interesting that (as far as I can see, please correct me if I'm wrong) the Jade Obelisk kit isn't being cut!
