If I were in the market for a smoker, I'd spend 200 extra for the bull. The hopper is larger, and placed in the back, so less travel distance to the firepot. Bigger cooking surface too.

[deleted]

What he said. I have the 700 bull and it’s outstanding. Never more then 2 degree swing during a cook. The bull also has a full 6 year warranty.

GrillDealing

I will be would agree if you have the room. The 590 fits my space and gas been great.

faithless_ape

I’ve had this smoker for just over three years. The build quality is outstanding, way better than the Traeger that I had before it. I’ve had to contact customer service once, because one of the temperature probes broke (my fault) and I wanted to order a new one. They shipped me replacements at no cost the same day. I would 100% recommend this unit if you are looking for a pellet smoker.

ryukiller08

Thank you everyone for the info! I am definitely going to get a RecTeq and upgrade to the rt-700

[deleted]

You’ve made an excellent decision and you won’t be disappointed, the smokers and the company are top notch!

WorshipNickOfferman

Have one and love it. Worth every penny.

p00trulz

I’ve never used one but Recteq has a good reputation.

TSep82

I love RecTec. I've had one for 6 years and have had very few problems (wife put chunk wood in the hopper when I was deployed and wrecked the auger motor). Their customer service is very good and shipping is pretty quick. I suggest RecTec over a lot of other companies. I hate the same things that every pellet smoker complains of, lack of smoke but I've added a cold smoker tube in the beginning of longer smokes and it helps.

yawg6669

I have that grill. It's great. All As in my book.

GrillDealing

I have the 590 an I am very happy with it. It has been reliable and very well built. I have had to replace two probes but it was no questions asked they just mailed me a new one. It gets hot enough to sear, however I would recommend grill grates if you need that. I use my blackstone for searing anymore. Great for long cooks, done many different overnight cooks on it. I can trust it to be +-5 from set temp and the app will alert me if there are issues. You won't get as much smoke vs a stick burner or charcoal but a smoke tube can help with that. I love being able to fire it up for short cooks where the effort for a longer one might not make sense for me.

averhoeven

Excellent choice. I've had my Rec for a few years now and love it. CS is great, device is great. Really no complaints.

NecessaryDoughnut222

I own the RT-590. Arguably the best choice in the sub-$1000 price range.

evilbeard333

That's the best your gonna get in that price range

WinterMatt

I've had it for over a year now it's great.

Undercover_Dinosaur

I bought my rt 680 roughly 6 years ago, abused the hell out. Their warranty and customer service is top notch. Would HIGHLY recommend them.

PKS_5

Better than a traeger. I have a BGE and a RT. The RT is the best value in smoking.

Lordofpotomac

I have this grill. It is excellent. It is also about 50% smaller than I wished I had within two weeks of purchase.

[deleted]

$71 off?!?!

[deleted]

$71 off 220 lbs of pellets not $71 off the smoker

useles-converter-bot

220 lbs is the same weight as 156.03 'Double sided 60 inch Mermaker Pepparoni Pizza Blankets'

d00kieshoes

I came close to buying that grill, looked awesome but I decided against a pellet smoker. From what I read they're well made and have good customer service.

[deleted]

What did u go with?

d00kieshoes

I ended up getting a Weber propane grill and a kettle. I already had a vertical propane smoker I don't care for it much though.

SQTowelie

Have had the RT-700 for 1.5 years and no problems so far. And I’ve been through several hundred pounds of pellets.

meeshkyle

As some others have already shared. I have this pellet grill and love it. I got a bunch of accessories like the sear plates/kit, the griddle, and the wire/mesh grill mat things. All A+ quality. I think the one thing I remember which sold me when I made the purchase was I found a 4 star review that was actually a 5 star. Might be there on the website, or somewhere else. Can't remember. Guy basically said he couldn't give the grill 5 stars because the components or something were built in China, and only assembled in America, or something like that. He said had it been 100% American Made, he'd have given 5 stars. He had other great details on quality within the review. But after reading that and laughing a little, I went ahead and pulled the trigger.

DaveO_13

I have a 590. I love it. I couldn’t justify the extra money for the extra space. The 590 has worked perfectly for me and my family. But I’ll say that if you can afford it, just go ahead and get the Bull. I’m sure you won’t regret it.

pthiele2009

We have the 700 and love it! Probably use it 3-5 times a week now. We have had it since early 2020 and have slowly added some of the components, like the smoke box and grill grates. Their customer service is incredibull as well. (See what I did there??)

Mike_Oxbig13

From my understanding recteq is on the upper end of smokers

[deleted]

I have a friend with a 590 and he absolutely loves it. RT makes good stuff.

Jr712

I have had a 590 for over a year now and been completely happy with it. I’m glad I didn’t get a 700 as the 590 has more space than I ever use.

Introvert4lfe

My husband has the recteq 700. We love it. We used to smoke on WSM but I like the smoke profile better on the RT 700 lighter cleaner smoke taste but that's our opinion.

AbuddyFL

Get a WSM...

ryukiller08

What is a WSM?

UnreasoningOptimism

Weber Smokey Mountain. Vertical smoker, fire pan at the bottom for coals and/or wood. Versatile and simple, suitable for basically everything except maybe a whole packer brisket. https://www.weber.com/US/en/grills/charcoal-grills/smokey-mountain/smokey-mountain-cooker-smoker-22/731001.html

**WSM (650 AM) is a 50,000-watt clear channel station located in Nashville, Tennessee. It broadcasts a full-time country music format (with classic country and Americana leanings, the latter of which is branded as "Route 650") at 650 kHz and is known primarily as the home of The Grand Ole Opry, the world's longest running radio program.** More details here: *This comment was left automatically (by a bot). Bad bot! NO!

[deleted]

It looks nice, but seems a little pricey.

Targi3

ZGrills has some great options in that price range. I’m not familiar with this brand, but love my Z

petersom2006

Looks like a nice outdoor oven

[deleted]

I have an RT-680 and a Bullzeye kettle, both are great smokers, the Bullzeye will also do high heat grilling.
