On my roth i got about 4k+ shares of sofi and the rest VTI..
Robinhood i got about 1700 shares on covered call exp dec.
Sofi i got about 2k shares that im willing to swing if it goes parabolic for some reason.
I’ve owned SOFI since before the merger. I scaled into the position 50-100 shares at a time. Some of those purchases happened at the top and some happened at the bottom. I have also scaled out of the position 100-200 shares at a time missing the top by a lot but I did it to recoup most of my initial capital. It may not get one the most profit but it allows you to live another day while collecting assets.
Based on how you described your emotions in this post I can confidently say that there is no way you would’ve held all the way through $11. You probably would’ve sold at $6-7 so stop wondering about the “what if” because probably that would’ve never even happened in the first place.
I originally took a bath on Sofi. But I found that If I added just prior to earnings and put in a stop afterwards I would profit. I'd then parlay that investment and profits each quarter after the post earnings drop, while holding a core position.
I got stopped out of all of it at around 8.50 per share when the bullsh!t downgrades came along. I made a nice profit and I'm stalking the stock looking to re-enter if we have Sept/October turmoil.
I have PDT (John Hancock premium dividend fund) in my Roth - mostly preferred shares, netting 8-10% yearly with DRIP; VTI 100% in my 401k and 457b; BRK in TDA personal. Covering all bases lol.
I don't understand man. Did you yolo into this? The stock is cheap, hold it long enough and it will go on a very nice run. They are positioned for great things. Their stock price is in value territory right now. Unless you need the money right away, don't sell. Set it and forget it.

Buy an index fund lol
I prefer BRK over bread and butter index, especially in a taxable account, since no pesky dividends.
Roth ira… all those dividends will compound tax free
