use1essassh0le

As they said. Solo Leveling will be divided into 6 seasons. Doubt it'll be a movie!

jnarvaeztheabnormal

Is that what was announced? I'll be honest, I haven't really been paying attention haha

-ScrambledLlama-

yea they did say that, but it isn't definite, it could change any time

jnarvaeztheabnormal

Nice. Like I said, I don't mind this specific arc being either or. Would be dope regardless.

Offamylawn

They could always do a movie about the failed attempts. It's a good way to do some world building and character development without changing the original story.

no-concept-99

"They did say that." Wait, really ? They really announced that they would adapt the whole story ? Not only part of it ? I really hope so because I can't stand unfinished anime. I enjoyed the manhwa and hope it gets a full adaptation.

-ScrambledLlama-

they didn't say it officially but it was leaked from a well trusted guy also its pretty clear that they'll adapt the whole thing based on S1's success

-ScrambledLlama-

like as soon as ep 12 dropped they dropped the season 2 teaser too i think that's enough to show that they're going all in on this project lol

no-concept-99

I see. Thanks for the clarifications. I hope you're right cause I know some animes that got appreciated and were overall successful but didn't get a sequel. (86:Eighty Six and No Game No Life are the few examples that came to my mind now)

TempestQii

they dropped a s2 teaser? damn i needa go watch that.

-ScrambledLlama-

it's really nothing much, just jinwoo doing the "shush"

BelasariusKyle

wait...it makes sense...SIX SEASONS AND A MOVIE!

ErrorHoplit

I don't understand why people have fixation on trying to make every fking manga/manhwa arc into movie.

jnarvaeztheabnormal

I'm not opposed to either or. All I know is that the animation for that arc is gonna be fire regardless

ErrorHoplit

If it was a movie, a lot of details would have to be cut, u would be able to watch it months after jap release, to name a few downsides.

jnarvaeztheabnormal

I wouldn't doubt that, but if the main focus of the movie is Jeju arc and Jeju arc only, I don't think they would cut anything. Had it been more than one arc, of course they would have to cut some stuff, but hey, who's to say what would happen, ya know?

ErrorHoplit

Movies gotta have a compelling story, jeju arc is just action. It wouldnt work at all.

jnarvaeztheabnormal

Not necessarily, if anything, they could also add the past attempts of the Raids on Jeju, add more compelling story to it, especially since alot of the S Rank heroes who return to the island all have different experiences. But then again, I wouldn't doubt they would drop the ball like that if that arc was a movie rather than a season of its own.

PsychologicalGur7930

Yeah either way I am okay with both but a movie has a higher budget then the anime( I am not sure but I heard some where that a movie has a higher budget then the entire season of the anime) and it makes it easier to make high quality animation and scenes because of it and there is a completely different feel when you go watch in a theatre

[deleted]

I honestly don't get it either. You want to go to cinemas to watch it months before it's available online? It's actually crazy to me. You don't get to talk to some of your friends because people have to go in person. Some of them don't even have it in local cinemas. You can't watch reactions on YouTube because the movie isn't available. I see a ton of downsides for what... better animation? It's going to have some of the best animation anyways. I just don't see the point of anime movies. Ufotable did it with Demon Slayer because the arc was too short and it didn't fit well into a season.

LupusWhiteWolf

It'll be the end of S2, don't know why people keep thinking it'll be a third season. Transferring the chapters into episodes will take several chapters and turn them into a minute or two conversations. They had to add anime only lore to make it end just after Igris otherwise it would've ended at the end of red gate if they did not add the world building scenes

jnarvaeztheabnormal

I mean there's still alot of content between where S1 ended in the manwha to Jeju Island. We still >!first red gate arc!<, the >!demon castle arc!<, the >!retesting rank arc!<, the >!hunters guild gate arc!<, and the >!return to demon castle arc.!< That's plenty of content for all of season 2, imho.

LupusWhiteWolf

You've also got to remember how much content they fit in season 1 From the beginning to the hospital Getting training and first dungeon The false rank dungeon The anime only stuff Setup for Jeju The 10 raids And then Igris Jeju being season 2 will be very doable and most likely since a lot of content between now and Jeju is talking which isn't that long when converted to anime format, return to demon castle will probably be episodes 8-9 and the rest will be Jeju

ultrainstict

Show is supposed to span 6 seasons, jeju finishes a little over halfway through the manhwa. So season 3 is the expected. S2 should end with him publically becoming an S rank. And season 3 should span top of the demon castle and end with jeju.

Frenchymemez

For it to be at the end of season 2, that means season 2 has to include the red gate, the first journey into the demon castle, the two raids he does as a miner/luggage carrier, becoming an S rank, the second journey into the castle, and his mother being healed, and all of Jeju Island into 12 episodes, including the sparring and stuff. And that means no anime original content, such as the whole recon mission that we just started. Fuck that. That sounds awful in terms of pacing.

LupusWhiteWolf

Red gate 1/2 EPs Demon castle 3/4 EPs total including bringing back mom Miner dungeon 1/2 ep Becoming a rank maybe half an ep (talking goes really quick in anime) Jeju 3/4 EPs And the recon mission is just replacing the big photos they took saying that they found a dead big that flew over, so the recon mission will just be replacing the leadup to jeju Most people gotta remember that talking may take multiple chapters in the manwha but when converting to anime your looking at maybe 2-3 min conversations at max

B1gNastious

I hope it’s not a movie. Movies move to fast and feel more like 3-4 episodes and miss or mash content.

uHemant

maybe like Demon Slayer, mugen train. Movie then recap in 5 ep of season 3

DarkPDA

probably yes

xNJxReap

I think it will be season 3 since there are still a lot of key events that happen before then make sense since Jeju Island Raid is the halfway point of the series. I'm trying not to include any spoilers for those who care.

Ecstatic-Juice9245

It has enough materials for 100 episodes. So much more stuff to show and it's just gonna get better from now on.

Hopeful_Expression57

I'd love a movie tbh

MasteROogwayY2

I hope they wait till s3, otherwise it will be rushed

LaLackey-404

They could release it as a premiere movie, then split into episodes?

TempestQii

From the comments it doesn’t look like it will be a movie. I for one WISH it would be. we would have a chance to see the animation really go all out. but you can’t have everything you want sadly.

25solus52

I would like it to be a movie but i don't have high expectation for the anime. they're probably going to finish all of jeju island in season 2

jnarvaeztheabnormal

As much as I would love Jeju to be in Season 2, there's still alot of content from where s1 ended in the manwha to Jeju. I'd say, imo, that it would probably end where Jeju starts.

Thebigfish803

Nah season finally cause they ended it early boon 4 and its in 7 they beat jeju island trust me when i say we will be fine bro the season last 2-3 episodes will be jeju island, beru vs jinwoo, then the funeral and we will end with the chairmen giving that speech with the end of the arc as they show all the characters and fade to black

Darkex72

Making Jeju island arc into a movie would be a bad decision on the studios part, anime movies typically are optional, even if they’re canon to the story. Too much happens in Jeju island for it to be left out of the episodes. The casual viewer would be left confused wondering where Jinwoo gets the strong ant shadow from, the whole deal with Japan, the death of Min-Byungu, the message Byungu leaves with Hae-in, which she passes on to Jinwoo. I think even Lui Zhigang was introduced when a couple ants flew across the ocean. Or he was at least mentioned.

ProcedureFar5725

Season 2 will cover all of jeju island

jnarvaeztheabnormal

Imo, there's alot more content being covered from where season 1 ended in the manwha

ProcedureFar5725

They cramped 46 chapters into season 1. If they cramp another 46 chapters, it will reach jeju island

jnarvaeztheabnormal

Well technically, the arcs I posted stretch up until chapter 89-ish, give or take. It'll reach it, but I think it ends with them starting the arc.

ProcedureFar5725

They would cut contents in between to be able to finish all of jeju island in that season

jnarvaeztheabnormal

Perhaps. At this point, it's just a wait and see thing.
