i dotn know what it is with battle passes but it just makes me not want to play a game. i know its free i know its easy-ish to get through but i just cannot play splatoon to the degree it wants me to and i despise the FOMO aspect of it.
Iirc it all becomes avaiable eventually. I've seen the clothes appear in shops the following seasons. Fairly sure the titles and splashtags get added to the shell out machine.

It's not so bad if you play enough to get one level a day, which can take as little as one match. Each catalogue is around for about 90 days, so you can get most of what you want with only a bit of grinding for the remaining stuff, which should be helped by playing in Splatfests or Big Runs.
Pretty sure 10 lost turf war games is enough for a full level, so once you reach that point you can stop, you’re bound to make it up by having longer play sessions anyway, unless you only care about catalogue XP and don’t play the game outside of your daily level
I think I'll get it this time around. Last time my controller broke, and I don't like joycons, so I just stopped playing for a bit. I was on track though.
I love hearing the best fucking music I've ever heard blasting in my ears while I play one of the most balanced online shooters with fun movement options and unique weapons and then when I'm tired of the main game mode I go to Salmon Run and play an entirely different yet still addictive game that also slaps beyond belief
Same. I play the occasional Turf War match here and there but some of the match has a team full of sweats and they whip my ass, which get very frustrating and exhausting when I’m just trying to have some casual fun for a couple hours
Just got the game and it feels HORRIBLE. Complete and total domination every game and the maps make it near impossible to comeback because they bottleneck you into a snipers path. It's miserable...

Easy solution: work in a low income/high stress job to the point where you’re good enough to be a key member & you feel confident handling anything that’s thrown at you. Then quit & find a better job.

Because while I do enjoy the other Game Modes (besides Turf War), I also tend to get tilted dealing with whatever Nightmare Team the game has set me up against.
Me. Unlike other games I play consistently, the present content in Splatoon is not enough to keep me coming back and the addition of new content is usually weak enough that I only play for like 1-2 weeks before dipping again.
I didn't have this issue with Splatoon 2, and I assume that was because I was a late game player, we already had several years or content and Splatoon 3 was even being developed, so to go from maybe 24 maps to like 10 (only reaching 16 over the course of nearly a fucking year), a basket of weapons I'd love to try out to maybe a handful, and less clothing options, Splatoon 3 just feels like 1 step forward, 2 steps back.
I like this game, and I like splatfests, but when I'm presented with 'What do I do?' It's a choice between:
"Play TF2, Ultrakill, Gmod, work, watch youtube, netflix, or get my switch and play Splatoon. Ooor I could play TOTK."
I'm mostly a PC player, I have all my stuff here. It takes only a tiny bit more effort to play switch games. It's an extremely small hurdle, like a gate with no fense, but for a game that feels so lackluster sometimes, I don't usually think it's worth it and walk away. Or walk through and play a different game.
I also cannot get splatoon 3 to keep my attention, mostly because the weapon I used in splatoon 2 isnt there. I’ve had the game since launch and have 5 hours on it, I just cant get into it without the weapon im used to

imo Splatoon has become too competitive for casual plays, like if one only have time to during weekends, you will probably lose a lot to more regular players, and matchmaking doesn’t help (or even makes it worse from the rant on reddit)
and when many rewards, while not affecting gameplay at all, are barred behind victories and grinding, it’s hard to gain sense of achievement, or any sense of progression to the game
on the aspect of world events on weekends (big run, splat fest, etc), they tend to be heavy grinding (a few hours at least for splat fest ruler rank, or constant practicing for eggstra work for the highscore), and also on the competitive side which adds more salt (again)
The online is so inconsistent for me that I just stopped playing. I'll probably cancel my Nintendo switch online and just play side order when it comes out.

I, at this point, despise playing Splatoon 3. I think its the worst one in the series. I hope with my heart that it gets better, because Splatoon is a comfort media, but I don't think it will personally
I loved the first and second one but three is uhh a little too actiony, the maps where much bigger so it was mostly about laying down ink and then a bit of battling. 2 had a little bit more but at least you still had a breather...3 is non stop and any little misjudgement or miscalculation gets me screamed at by my friend so it has killed the game for me.

Absolutely me, I want to play but solo queue is just so infuriating and poorly optimized it completely kills my excitement. Spent four years making a third game and it's just splatoon 1 again.
Lately, I just haven’t felt like playing anything in general, but whenever I do, it’s like, one Saturday afternoon of Splatoon where I try to grind between 5-10 levels in the catalog.

I love pretty much everything about Splatoon, except for the multiplayer and the catalog. It just ain’t for me.
Splatoon, for me at least, is just one of those games that you play for an hour or two and then don't want to play again for another week or so. It's such a shame, this game has such a fun community but some of the most unfun gameplay imaginable. Nothing that the devs do is ever exciting or interesting enough to make me come back for more than a day or two. I don't pay attention to the catalogs, and Big Run and Eggstra Work never interest me. Splatfests are only fun for half of the weekend they run. I pretty much just play Salmon Run at this point, and when I do play Anarchy I don't pay attention to the rankings or points because it feels unrewarding and not worth the headache and stress.
I used to really enjoy this game, and content creation for Splatoon, but it just feels like a chore nowadays and I'm starting to pivot away from it. I have sunk 1,000+ hours into Splatoon 3 and it has gotten me nowhere. The game is unhealthy for me to play anyways, so I'm content to just discuss the game without actually playing it.
My philosophy is that if a game makes you feel overly stressed, angry, anxious, etc. then it's not worth your time. Unfortunately Splatoon fills all those boxes and more for me personally, so it had to go at some point. I feel so much happier playing other games that don't make me feel so powerless.
The lore in this series is amazing, I’d love like a show or movie or something.

I'm not sure if I just got older or what. Something about splat 3's vibe just doesn't captivate me as much as 2 did. The music, the main hub, the singeplayer, are all bigger or "better" in 3 but for whatever reason 3 just feels different.

They’re on a goldmine with a great world, lore, characters and overall aesthetic but the gameplay is kinda just ‘okay’. I honestly had more fun with the novelty of tableturf in S3 than the online. I’m still looking forward to Side Order tho

It got to the point where I got anxious while playing becasue all I could think about was: "These maps suck" and it got so bad that I rage quit out of a match and probably got penalized.
Because of everyone criticizing the map design it made the game less fun.
Would definitely play more IF the game with existed on PC. I can't stand playing shooter games on consoles as it just feels weird for me, and I suck at aiming. This also applies to other games like Pokémon, I just prefer using a keyboard and mouse. I emulated splatoon 1 on PC once just to play through the story mode, and it was a blast.
I also can't be bothered to pay for online every year, especially for a broke ass like myself.
This is very much me. Recently, I got myself some more Amiibo for the gear and when I scanned them, I realized that I would have to play matches to get more of the gear after I already played a lot that day. Then I realized that the gear you get are only one star and to get three sub slots on the gear, I would have to wait to get more sea snails only available in another week for Splatfests. Now I'm just burnt out and I don't want to play Splatfests cause I don't like tricolor ok either side and I only get a lot of snails for playing a whole bunch and the chance of my team winning.

Sometime I hop on for a few round of salmon run, remembers I can't earn level with Salmon run, play classic, get bored after a few rounds, try other modes, don't like them as much, quit the game and don't come back for weeks
I just only do Salmon Run because of how efficient I get money, abilities, and experience for my catalog. I also get more consistent wins than I do in Turf Wars. Turf Wars are just boring in Splatoon 3 for some reason, probably because of the maps and how unlucky it feels. In Salmon Run, I know why and how I lose, but in Turf Wars, it just feels random and a bit unfair, honestly. It doesn't help that none of my friends feel like playing this game at all.
I wanted to get the full catalogue in every season but since totk has come out I have hardly played any other video games and have not played splatoon once so that dream is dead
Yeah. this season has kinda lost me a bit, but I am more than ready for Side Order and a really good update. I like to talk about how to improve the game, but then when I pick the game back up and the improvements aren't there I find it a touch depressing.
I haven't touched my Switch (and mainly Splatoon 3) in ages for two reasons: severe controller drift, which is extra annoying as I cannot use motion controls to save my life, and a lack of ability to change x and y sensitivity separately, which makes joining back in more difficult as I have spent too much time playing other shooters with a much lower y sensitivity
Have a goal set...like, daily visit to see if a piece of gear is in stocks to upgrade to 5 star, look for a certain title/banner, get a badge... feed your gambling addiction. Something.
I used to play Splatoon 2 all of the time. I've bearly touched 3. Not because I think it's bad, I just don't know why. I haven't even beaten the story yet.

Yeah... I really like Splatoon and it's unique way of playing, but I'm not a big fan of online matches (you know, CoD/Halo/Fortnite/FPS stile).
I'm really excited for Side Order because I LOVE story modes.

i only really play splat zones on anarchy battles(open) and sometimes tower control. and i like salmon run but only when there are weapons i can actually use😭.
I enjoy the odd match of turf war or salmon run, but I feel like in order for me to not lose constantly, I’d need to play a *lot* more often than I do. It’s a similar reason I don’t play Smash anymore - I’m not invested enough in it, so whenever I try to get back into it, I get my ass kicked to the kerb and go play something else.
Im unable to play splatoon because whenever I try my camera drifts up. Literally nothing I do helps, I even got new controllers and it still doesn't work.
Haven’t played in months, but is the matchmaking still bad? There would be days where’d I’d lose almost every game whether it be turf or ranked. And this is someone who was a consistent S-Rank in Splatoon 2.

You can make private shifts in salmon run in which you choose your own difficulty level, if you’re afraid of it being too hard. I highly recommend it

It's such a shame, this game has such a fun community but some of the most unfun gameplay imaginable. Nothing that the devs do is ever exciting or interesting enough to make me come back for more than a day or two. I don't pay attention to the catalogs, and Big Run and Eggstra Work never interest me. Splatfests are only fun for half of the weekend they run. I pretty much just play Salmon Run at this point, and when I do play Anarchy I don't pay attention to the rankings or points because it feels unrewarding and not worth the headache and stress. I used to really enjoy this game, and content creation for Splatoon, but it just feels like a chore nowadays and I'm starting to pivot away from it. I have sunk 1,000+ hours into Splatoon 3 and it has gotten me nowhere. The game is unhealthy for me to play anyways, so I'm content to just discuss the game without actually playing it. My philosophy is that if a game makes you feel overly stressed, angry, anxious, etc. then it's not worth your time. Unfortunately Splatoon fills all those boxes and more for me personally, so it had to go at some point. I feel so much happier playing other games that don't make me feel so powerless.

The lore in this series is amazing, I’d love like a show or movie or something. But god am I so uninterested in the campaign. It just isn’t as cool and unique feeling as everything else.

I'm not sure if I just got older or what. Something about splat 3's vibe just doesn't captivate me as much as 2 did. The music, the main hub, the singeplayer, are all bigger or "better" in 3 but for whatever reason 3 just feels different.
I would play the game more if the stages didn't suck and the game didn't rely on those stupid catalogue system of unlocking items.

They’re on a goldmine with a great world, lore, characters and overall aesthetic but the gameplay is kinda just ‘okay’. I honestly had more fun with the novelty of tableturf in S3 than the online. I’m still looking forward to Side Order tho
I was so into playing Sploon 2, but I can't into Sploon 3 much after I beat the singleplayer
I stopped playing the game becasue everyone on this sub wouldn't stop complaining about the map design. It got to the point where I got anxious while playing becasue all I could think about was: "These maps suck" and it got so bad that I rage quit out of a match and probably got penalized. Because of everyone criticizing the map design it made the game less fun.

Would definitely play more IF the game with existed on PC. I can't stand playing shooter games on consoles as it just feels weird for me, and I suck at aiming. This also applies to other games like Pokémon, I just prefer using a keyboard and mouse. I emulated splatoon 1 on PC once just to play through the story mode, and it was a blast. I also can't be bothered to pay for online every year, especially for a broke ass like myself.
This is very much me. Recently, I got myself some more Amiibo for the gear and when I scanned them, I realized that I would have to play matches to get more of the gear after I already played a lot that day. Then I realized that the gear you get are only one star and to get three sub slots on the gear, I would have to wait to get more sea snails only available in another week for Splatfests. Now I'm just burnt out and I don't want to play Splatfests cause I don't like tricolor ok either side and I only get a lot of snails for playing a whole bunch and the chance of my team winning.

Love thsi game but the griding for optimal gear slot is too much Sometime I hop on for a few round of salmon run, remembers I can't earn level with Salmon run, play classic, get bored after a few rounds, try other modes, don't like them as much, quit the game and don't come back for weeks

I just only do Salmon Run because of how efficient I get money, abilities, and experience for my catalog. I also get more consistent wins than I do in Turf Wars. Turf Wars are just boring in Splatoon 3 for some reason, probably because of the maps and how unlucky it feels. In Salmon Run, I know why and how I lose, but in Turf Wars, it just feels random and a bit unfair, honestly. It doesn't help that none of my friends feel like playing this game at all.

Yeah. this season has kinda lost me a bit, but I am more than ready for Side Order and a really good update. I like to talk about how to improve the game, but then when I pick the game back up and the improvements aren't there I find it a touch depressing.
I haven't touched my Switch (and mainly Splatoon 3) in ages for two reasons: severe controller drift, which is extra annoying as I cannot use motion controls to save my life, and a lack of ability to change x and y sensitivity separately, which makes joining back in more difficult as I have spent too much time playing other shooters with a much lower y sensitivity

I love playing the game though I don’t do it often I wasn’t incredibly active on it since I’d say half way through Splatoon 2’s life. It’s just I also play other things that take up my free time.

I am the exact opposite, the discourse is annoying but I love to play, almost every day. This very thread is a great example of the Splatoon discourse that I cannot relate to *at all* and makes me feel utterly alienated from the fanbase.

Yeah... I really like Splatoon and it's unique way of playing, but I'm not a big fan of online matches (you know, CoD/Halo/Fortnite/FPS stile). I'm really excited for Side Order because I LOVE story modes. If Splatoon had a story mode with like, a semi open world or anything that makes the story mode replayable enough, you bet I would be playing it more than online.
i only really play splat zones on anarchy battles(open) and sometimes tower control. and i like salmon run but only when there are weapons i can actually use😭.

I enjoy the odd match of turf war or salmon run, but I feel like in order for me to not lose constantly, I’d need to play a *lot* more often than I do. It’s a similar reason I don’t play Smash anymore - I’m not invested enough in it, so whenever I try to get back into it, I get my ass kicked to the kerb and go play something else.
