It was obvious from the start to me. Oh shit the fast and loose padawan meets the stoic and disciplined one, and I'm like yeah she's gonna snap one day lol
If I had a nickel for every time this happened (that we know of) I'd have two nickels for canon three for legends(you can play revan fast and loose and iirc its all but confirmed kreia was revans mast soo..)
I mean it would have been a big deal if the Seventh Sister was Barriss when she and Ahsoka fought in Rebels. But Ahsoka didn’t seem to care who she was.
Inquisitor definitely wouldn't fit her. She hated the jedi and republic for becoming too stagnant and tyrannical. an empire would be the last thing she'd want
Wanting the Republic to not be a corrupt mess? And is there actually examples of him being a supremacist before turning to the Dark Side? I wasn't aware of any
When you put it like that sure, of course it doesn't, but it's part of one of the prevailing themes of Star Wars. Both Vader, Dooku, and other dark side users we see all had very noble purposes that they were in pursuit of, and thought the power the dark side offered would help them to accomplish that. Relying on the power that came from their hatred, fear, and anger corrupted those intentions without question. It blinded, perverted, and distorted what they set out to do and who they were. Dooku wanted a Republic that was more just and equitable, but in seeking it became cruel and politically corrupt himself. Vader wanted the power to save the people he loved, but in seeking it destroyed everything he loved. There's a deep spiritual aspect to all of this that I think has very real implications to it, but overall it shows how the pursuit of pure power is a temptation that can use a good heart to completely dismantle a person. It's not a matter of "the dark side made me do it," it's a reminder that disillusionment, anger, and a desire to do good can lead someone to do terrible things
Ehhh its actually more like a 50/50 split. Out of the 15 inquisitors we know of so far, six joined willingly (grand inquisitor, third sister, fifth brother, tenth brother, thirteenth sister, barris) five were tortured (second sister, seventh sister, eighth brother, ninth sister, tualon yaluna) and four are unknown (fourth sister, sixth brother, marrok, TOTJ inquisitor)
Being an Inquisitor is probably the only feasible thing they could do with her after what they had her do in TCW, the temple bombing being where the issue stems with Barriss in Canon
Even though it is a wild direction to take Barriss of all people, I don’t actually hate it. I think I can actually dig it, but it will depend on how well Tales of The Empire executes her arc
To me a extremely up tight person who is incredibly stringent on rules eventually snapping because they feel people aren’t following the rules anymore is very realistic, ive seen it happen often, not resorting in a terrorist act but a screaming breakdown with some violence when their trying to be restrained.
There aren’t exactly many career options for former Jedi in Imperial prisons
That said though, you are right that it doesn’t seem like her. I think she’ll realise she isn’t cut out for it.
She was imprisoned for treason. The emperor therefore had unlimited time and opportunity to twist her hatred to his own ends. She was consumed by emotion enough to commit terrorism against her own order, so it probably wouldn't be hard.
I think people are greatly overstating Vader’s likely reaction to seeing Barriss again.
Vader’s main coping mechanism is to convince himself he is an entirely separate entity from Skywalker. Don’t forget he would go on to try and kill Ahsoka
His past experiences don’t mean anything to him anymore
I feel there is some set up for something, that we have yet to see. I agree the Bariss we know probably wouldn't be down to be an Inquisitor, so instead of assuming bad writing maybe there is a reason she is there, possibly a mole, maybe something she needs to do from the inside?

Wich isnt a lot but its weird that it happened twice.
I honestly thought for awhile that the seventh sister was her
I’ve made the case for years that she was the seventh sister. It all lines up if you stop long enough to connect the dots together.
Barriss being the Seventh Sister has always been a completely nonsensical theory
I mean, it’s cannon that she was an inquisitor, just not the seventh sister
But the point is she isn’t 7th Sister lol
Do you have a source for that?
I mean it would have been a big deal if the Seventh Sister was Barriss when she and Ahsoka fought in Rebels. But Ahsoka didn’t seem to care who she was.
You didn't even try to come and help me.
Racist /s since it wasn’t obvious enough
They're both Mirialan females, OP was making a joke about "all ___ look the same" I thought it was funny anyway ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯
Redditors generally possess no sarcasm literacy Hence why /s is required
Apparently the same redditors also don't like it when you call them out like that. I feel for you OP.
They’re so mad they downvote me even when they know I’m right lul
It's ok, they're just salty that they are so socially incapable that they have to use stupid shit like "/s"
Its a dumb played out joke. I knew what you meant as soon as I read it. Still downvoted you b/c it's a dumb joke.
To be fair it is quite challenging to tell if words on a screen are sarcasm with no other context in the comment
Huh?

That's like saying Dooku would never become a Sith lord. The dark side does terrible things to someone with good intentions
"Good intentions" my man Dooku was literally a human supremacist what good intentions?
Wanting the Republic to not be a corrupt mess? And is there actually examples of him being a supremacist before turning to the Dark Side? I wasn't aware of any
His solution to a corrupt mess was an even more corrupt and despotic mess, the only difference is he was gonna be on top of that mess.
Saying "because of the dark side" isn't a very compelling explanation
When you put it like that sure, of course it doesn't, but it's part of one of the prevailing themes of Star Wars. Both Vader, Dooku, and other dark side users we see all had very noble purposes that they were in pursuit of, and thought the power the dark side offered would help them to accomplish that. I mean, 99% of the Inquisitors didn’t want to be inquisitors but ~~the dark side~~ torture can really f*ck you up.
There are no Jedi! You and your Inquisitors have seen to that!

It would've been better if she was anti-jedi order but also secretly anti-empire
"Ruined" Barriss? She resorted to an act of Terrorism, that makes her a complete hypocrite due to what she was trying to "prove" with it.
That’s kinda where the “ruined” part comes from, what TCW did with Barriss pretty much bordered on character assassination
Well, from the way it was worded, it seemed as if people has seen that in TCW, and still claims that her becoming an Inquis is ruining her character
Being an Inquisitor is probably the only feasible thing they could do with her after what they had her do in TCW, the temple bombing being where the issue stems with Barriss in Canon Even though it is a wild direction to take Barriss of all people, I don’t actually hate it. Mary Poppins ahh pose
Why would she serve the empire though?
There aren’t exactly many career options for former Jedi in Imperial prisons That said though, you are right that it doesn’t seem like her. I think she’ll realise she isn’t cut out for it.

Why are you working so hard to keep us here?
You know there’s going to be some shit that goes down when Vader sees Barriss, considering their history
I think people are greatly overstating Vader’s likely reaction to seeing Barriss again. Vader’s main coping mechanism is to convince himself he is an entirely separate entity from Skywalker. Don’t forget he would go on to try and kill Ahsoka His past experiences don’t mean anything to him anymore
I have to sort this out on my own, without the Council… and without you.
At least she didn't use it as a helicopter. She never left the ground except when she jumped.
I feel there is some set up for something, that we have yet to see. I agree the Bariss we know probably wouldn't be down to be an Inquisitor, so instead of assuming bad writing maybe there is a reason she is there, possibly a mole, maybe something she needs to do from the inside?
I clicked on this post expecting a certain Darth from TOR.. very disappointed with myself. Baras, bariss, baaaaahhh

1. Meme 2. Reading them currently atm actually
She was a helicopter in 2002
Don't know why it took so long for this, been wanting this since the end of the clone wars.
