Col. Tigh was one of the best parts of the OG Galactica. It was not an easy thing to stand side by side with Lorne Greene but he did it and was a force on that command deck.
A buddy of mine ran into him in a bar once and recognized him from Battlestar Gallactica and my buddy said Terry seemed pretty uplifted by the recognition.
RIP.
And Michael Hogan hasn't worked in 4 years. He fell after a BSG convention and hit his head, which left him partially paralyzed.
He's been in rehab ever since, but it sounds like he's progressing well, working on a one-man stage show about his career.
My best friend growing up was Miguel, Terry’s son. Terry was so cool, I can’t stand it. His resume is better described by the New York Times. He was an absolute renaissance man.

The original BSG was ahead of its time. I distinctly remember one scene with Terry Carter where he’s talking to Apollo and he doesn’t finish before Apollo talks over him “No Base Ships!” I don’t remember seeing that before it was good writing and acting they were taking like people do. Tigh is detached and asking for facts and Apollo is emotional having just lost his brother.
I wish the show had been as intended a movie of the week several times a year. When they changed to a weekly series the quality dropped because they just didn’t have enough time to plan out and film all the single episodes.
Carter had a recurring role - 92 episodes - on The Phil Silvers Show in the 1950s. Nat Hiken, creator of Silvers and Car 54, Where Are You?, was about the only producer using black characters regularly on his shows in the late 50s and early 60s.
BSG is still my fave show of all time. Starbucks will always be Dirk Benedict, Athena is still hotter than Cassiopeia, and Col. Tighe always commanded the bridge.
My favorite of his projects is Abby (which is pretty transparently a blaxploitation take on The Exorcist). Terry is amazing in it and the movie is surprisingly effective.

I agree; his presence was an anchor on the show, unlike any other actor. I wish he had had more fame in his older years.
Lorne could be talking about potatoes and it'd be captivating. Probably hard to live up to that.

I got very confused until I realized from the poster it was og bsg.
New guy is a fuckin' toaster.
Fracking*
Oh man, it's been too long. I need to rewatch.
So say we all
So say we all
No need to see it through to the end.

His response to the mixup from the Suge Knight debacle is hilarious. Thanks for sharing and sorry for your loss
RIP Col. Tigh
Safe journey, Mr. Carter.

He should have gotten a lot more work. RIP
Such risks these actors took to do Sci Fi and being typecasted. Love him! RIP!

“Detective Colonel Tigh.” Come on, Variety.
That's just flat out lack of respect and basic fact-checking. Shame on Variety.
Oh man. May the Lords of Kobol watch over him. So say we all...
Broadhurst!
He was so great in those shows. You will be missed Mr Carter.
Gods bless Terry Carter
I loved Boomer
Any black actor from that era is twice the man of any man today. God rest his soul
Gone too soon
He is with the Lords of Kobol now.
