My step father, who is around 5'7" looks like a sitting giant in comparison, since he has very short legs but a tall upper body. He looks much taller while seated, equivalent to someone over 6'.
The point being, sitting height is not a reliable indicator of standing height. What is a reliable indicator of something amiss though, is the extremely short toes of those boots and the practically vertical instep angle.
