Technical-Split3642

Guy ended up in a coma and then became a guitarist in the E Street Band. There's your fucking arc.

Earthshoe12

In the end. Silvio was a broken hero on a last chance power drive.

MisterScary_98

Strap your hands across my engine? The fuck you doin’?

Earthshoe12

He was gay, Springsteen?

Ok-Cauliflower1798

The family name was originally Springinhisstepsteen.

ClassWarr

All the kissing the Big Man didn't tip you off?

Ok-Cauliflower1798

Leslie Fiedler wrote about that “Come back to the raft, Huck honey!”

707and808

the springsteen box set, i already got it

Technical-Split3642

Cunt was always stuck in traffic

Desperate_Jump_3062

Becoming a guitarist for The Boss is his coma dream

MrPiocostasMomJeans

Then he fucked off to Lilyhammer. International arc.

FinishTheFish

psychotic intelligent handle oil uppity sparkle judicious consider impossible start *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

Lemmy122445

That worth watching? I watched first episode then got sidetracked and never came back to it

Ok-Cauliflower1798

With his arch nemesis…Nils Lofgren

Tough_Difference_112

This was his first attempt at acting… he did a great Silvio but he maybe wasn’t cut out for an entire episode focused on him…. He did have a larger role in the episode Christopher…. Is it a hanging offense?

AssitDirectorKersh

I actually think the Silvio part in that episode was supposed to be Paulie, but Tony Sirico was having back surgery. Which makes sense since Paulie was always the one who cared about the rape of the culture, not Sill

Shapsy

I think it definitely worked out for the best. Paulie getting overly emotional and flying off the handle to Tony's detriment was part of his core character, it was really funny and humanizing to see Silvio be the one doing it for once. Dude is pragmatic and cunning in every single situation, unless Christopher Columbus enters the equation, then all bets are off.

AssitDirectorKersh

Yeah it definitely added an extra sense of humor. Like Sil doesn’t really care about the culture stuff unless it’s Columbus lol.

thewickerstan

It kind of feels in line too with how he’s levelheaded until he’s playing cards lol.

Weird-Library-3747

Let’s whack this prick

EcstaticShark11

I remember reading that somewhere a few years back

No_Character_5315

Again with the back injuries I had my guy who looks after the jets check him put nothing wrong he said.

AssitDirectorKersh

He was popping Percocets like freaking jujubes!

NYY15TM

> I actually think the Silvio part in that episode was supposed to be Paulie, but Tony Sirico was having back surgery. What do you mean "I ... think"? This is stated fact!

WhatAreYouSaying05

He was able to hold his own when Silvio briefly became acting boss

MasterFrosting1755

He'd had a bit of practice by that stage.

NoGiCollarChoke

What’s with the fuckin’ accounting out there?

EcstaticShark11

Also had a lot of Sil centered scenes in the episode with coach Hauser, whateva happened there

Jake_Corona

Him getting cheered for kicking dirt on the ref. Hahaha

Glittering-Bit3398

The Christopher Columbus fiasco, whatever happened there…

Spoopy-Operator

WHATEVER HAPPENED THERE?!

valschermjager

Turns out that supposed to be Paulie. Was rewritten to be Sil for some reason.

Individual-Bee3395

Tony Sirico was having surgery during the first few episodes of season 4 which is why he’s not really in it

valschermjager

I do remember watching it the first time thinking, not a whole lot gets under Sil’s skin to proactively fight back like that publicly. Seemed out of place. So I figured ok maybe they’re trying to evolve Sil in that direction; get him to act more, etc. And now that I think about it, it does actually seem like all the things that fit what Paulie would’ve done.

Particular-Cash-8565

Timeline got fucked up.

valschermjager

Is it a hangin offense… or not?

FrancescoStallone

Indeed we do

Obvious_Pumpkin5987

For what it’s worth.. there are/were real mobsters who looked and acted a lot like Silvio… the pompadour , clothes, exaggerated facial expressions… so his acting was pretty dam good for a rookie

bunkrider

I don’t think I ever knowingly seen a mafioso in real life but Silvio’s lack of emotion (besides gambling scenes) made me think he was the most realistic out of all of them. Never seen a mobster but know lots of gangsters and they aren’t as theatric as TV and movies make them seem for obvious entertainment reasons.

regassert6

Yeah, the ones in real life are certainly not cinematic.

pdx58

I always thought Johnny Sack was the most realistic.

kingkongworm

You’ve never seen a mobster, but you know lots of gangsters?

bunkrider

I know the term gangster is shared amongst the mob but yeah never met someone who was apart of the mob, just gangsters. Whether that be actual gang members or people who just plain made a living from the streets

Aggravating_Hope_567

Seeing as he was the consigliere he was an advisor first so didn't have much room for stories He did lead the hit on Adriana if that counts as an arc

DesperateSun4182

Pleeeease! Nooooo!

RRS295397

Where's his arc?

Tough_Difference_112

You know who had an arc?? Keanu reeves devils advocate….

tagganed

You know who had an arc? Noah.

Crazy_Raisin_3014

He had an arc, Jamal Ginsberg?

tagganed

The Hasidic Homeboy?

Crazy_Raisin_3014

Hasidim but I don’t believe ‘em!

FrancescoStallone

Hawks believed he created the genre with scarface, but cagney was modernity....I don't what she was thinkin, but we'll get back to that later.

TheAlabamaSlamma9

"I'm losin' my BAAWLS ova heah! And this fuckin' moron's playin' Hazel!?"

bubblegumshrimp

Hey you. Cheese fuck.

DesperateSun4182

Leave the cheese there. I stick provolone in my socks at night so they smell like ya sista's crotch in the morning.

WalkGood

Sil strangles Burt Gervasi all on his own decision. Wondering if he's whacked others in the past. He seems to work behind the scenes.

DesperateSun4182

Very observant. The sacred *and* the propane.

vivmain

Seems unrealistic to go off the reservation like that without a solid nod from the big guy.

WalkGood

Did Sil say something to Tony that he felt it needed to be done right away? Or am I mis-remembering? At any rate, Tony didn't seem upset with Sil for doing it.

loylecapo98

You must’ve been in the top of your fucking class

Doccks71

He did when he was Acting Boss, showed that apart from his levelheadedness towards business, he can't handle the pressure of being number 1

Hughkalailee

There was a Lot more pressure as “acting Boss” without the official authority, guys just second guessing him with the hope Tony would wake up and rule in their favor, Sil having to consider what Tony might want instead of being able to just make the decision he felt was best and stand on it with the ability to eliminate opposition

Tight_Strawberry9846

How about when he helped Patsy in sabotagging Christopher right after his promotion by stealing floor tiles? Silvio wanted to show Tony that Christopher isn't capable for such position and that Patsy should have been promoted instead, but Tony had to take the nepotism route.

Hughkalailee

Sil was also insecure and jealous of Chris possibly supplanting him as number two. Just as Tony states in their confrontation to resolve the mini-mutiny.

touchrubfeels

Timeline got fucked up.

FrancescoStallone

Indeed we do

Away-Zone-5745

I love the character don't get me wrong... But the acting sometimes... Just busting balls

No_Childhood4689

Because he is the consigliere. His role is already respected highly by the boss, even if Tony doesn’t act like it in front of the rest. Probably intentional, Confidentiality. The captains take his words as words from the boss. And if someone or something happens sensitive to the family or a conflict that needs to be handled internally, Sil has the book on “how to clean literally anything.” Takes a certain personality to have the cunning, initiative and aggression of a boss but still perform the role of a top level subordinate and maintain your the humble image. You could see the level of restraint he had with fat Dom before he blew. Silvio played that role as a character perfectly. He had no desire to be boss but if anyone in Tonys own outfit could rival him theoretically in business and strategy it would be Sil with his patience and meticulousness when he pulls the trigger. Besides that. He takes girls soccer a little too seriously and he can be a real sick fuck when he’s gamblin.

godofwine16

He woke up in Norway in the Witness Protection Program he ordered braziole and they gave him gravelax or something make me sick

sphinxyhiggins

Silvio inspired Chase and needed to stay as part of the show. The arc usually involves death.

HairApprehensive7950

He had 3 seasons of Lilyhammer that's more of an arc than any of the other supporting characters

JohnnySacks63

This to miss the Jets first home game!

Existing_Sort_7971

The Christopher plot line is pretty much his - he took action there.

Ambitious_Tuna

You stunads never heard of lilyhammer? Silvio flipped and moved wherever the fuck! Paulie became a priest after he had the interaction with the virgin mary in the bing.

ObedientFriend1

You mean he never has a plot line except for the episode where he has a plot line? What an observation.

emzeejay

He kind of serves as the court jester and the chorus. I think him being somewhat detached from the drama the other characters faced made him more connected to the audience. He was there to drop truths and to handle business. It made perfect sense that his turn at being "the boss" was comedic. Like the court jester, he's the smartest person in the room, but had no business being in charge.

777maina

Wanna know who had an arc? Noah you fuckin ass kiss

Bodyofanamerican

I mean, the writers DID have Silvio be the one to kill Adrianna. Stevie was fantastic in that scene in the car, where you kind of see the lights go out behind his eyes as he gets ready to wack her.

Deep_Ad5052

What are you bitchin bout- your wife’s a piece of ass, least she was when you married er

DirectionNew5328

Silvio’s arc was passed out in the toilet. The strippers and expensive animals were floating on the toilet water. Disgusting. I’ve said my piece, OP!

whingingcackle

What’s with all the fuckin’ accounting out there?

thats_how_they_getya

TImeline got fucked up.

Commercial-Conflict6

Sil is Tony’s right hand man but he’s only ever in the background

Ok-Cauliflower1798

He’s a “solid number two”

Commercial-Conflict6

Christopher’s higher ranking than Sil!

denys5555

A show can become so overloaded with subplots that it ceases to be fun to watch

VeryLargeTardigrade

Hi fooled everyone and faked his death and went on to spend his days in Lillehammer, Norway, running a bar and being a step dad for three seasons

tammoton

He was too cartoonish for any real character development.

RussellVolckman

He was too busy worrying about bird shit on tits to have his own arc

omnor

I assume they didn't give him one early on because of his lack of acting experience but I do wonder if they tried giving him one after season 1 and ended up cutting it because they saw his acting didn't work out. I liked the small arc of him falling under the pressure of an acting boss but his acting wasn't really on the level of the other mobster arcs. Anyway, 4 dollars a pound

Dry_Analysis_7660

Hey , cheese fuck , get me some food ova here!!!

Commandatori69

When I opened this thread there you were making posts like these. Disgusting

ImOnTheInstanet

It petered out

MarloFilms

He was the angel of death

tuckermia

I’d like to break my dick off in his ass

FrancescoStallone

Destiny

ElectricBirdVault

His soups still warm

DJ_Pickle_Rick

Timeline got fucked up.

IamJacks5150

I said my piece stunad.

Ok-Cauliflower1798

Chase’s boycrush on Little Steven worked out a lot better than Scorsese’s boycrush on Robbie Robertson.

HamletTheDane1500

Tony Soprano, Paul Gualtieri, and Silvio Dante have the same basic arc/jungian psychological spirit quest. How many times does something happen with Tony and then a similar thing happens with Silvio and then you find out later it already happened with Paulie off screen like three episodes ago.

Haunting-Formal-9519

Some people are better at being number 2s

wiilly_d

Silvio is definitely an under used character

Yerrrrrskrrttt234

It’s just bc he wasn’t a actor so his depth wasn’t as good as the rest. However he’s still one of everyone’s favorites so good shit by him.

SKINWALKERSOUP

I feel like I want to argue with you but I see what you’re saying. I think that’s just the way his character fit into the show, though. He was always there to complement those around him, he wasn’t a center of attention kind of guy. Anyway, four dollars a pound

Friendly-Button-2137

He has an arc in Lillehammer.

Electronic_Cow_7055

I thought the line about the cheese in his socks was his plot line

MichaelXennial

The hairpiece was all the character needed

External_Progress151

You say this but he has the episode where he’s got cheese at his feet

NYY15TM

I felt the word "crotch" sounded odd coming out of his mouth
