[This article](https://www.lindaledentists.com/how-much-saliva-do-you-make-each-day/#:~:text=The%20average%20life%20span%20of,small%20swimming%20pool%20of%20saliva) reveals that the average human produces 0.5ml of saliva per minute, so per day is 720 ml. Over the span of a year this is 262,800 ml or 262.8 liters. In 80 years of living you would then produce 21,024 liters. This is enough to fill [one of these types of pools](https://i.imgur.com/jh8zvnw.png)

I would never have guessed that this size of pool is as much as 21,000 litres

Uodda

It didn't said what pool they use for math, so it can vary, but if we talk about olimpic 50m standard pool, it contains about 2234 m3 of water, or 2.234m litres. Human on avg produce 2.5 litres so avg human will fill such pool only in 2482,2 years. In other hand if we say that in avg we live for about 80 years, for that time ever produced 72k litres, or we can fill 7.2 m3 of space with it.

LurkerPatrol

Where are you even getting these numbers from? That's not even close to what a quick googling reveals.

Uodda

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olympic-size_swimming_pool >Volume 2,500,000 L (550,000 imp gal; 660,000 US gal), assuming a nominal depth of 2 m. 2,500 m3 (88,000 cu ft) in cubic units. About 2 acre-feet. Tho avg amount of water is less, since 2.5m is max volume. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saliva >Production is estimated at 1500ml per day. But previously i find numbers from 1 to 2,5l a day, so i used max just to see how much it will be, but even this wouldn't be enough.

It's clear that the image doesn't specify which kind of pool, even if there is a swimmer on it. With this math, anyway, we found that a classical backyard pool 10x5x1.5 depth can be filled with spit, anyway not 2.

Heavy-Djentleman

Consider a maximum width 10 meters, as maximum length 5 meters, and as depth 2 meters it will be for example: 5 m x 10 m x 2 m x 0.85 = 85 m3 or 85k liters of water, if we consider that 2m depth is quite high and sometimes its not uniform, if your extimation is right, at least 1 swimming pool is filled!

Heavy-Djentleman

Well, I think we need to consider a standard popular swimming pool in the backyard, an olimpic one is gonna be hard to fill with spit

Uodda

Yeah the thing is they used photo of someone in more of olimpic standard pool.

maynardftw

I don't know that there's a standard for backyard pools

There's a what if on this exact subject https://whatif.xkcd.com/144/

So that's resonable if you consider that the average (in my opinion) doesn't take into consideration the possible extra production due to different diets or high "excitement" and lubrification during sexual activities. So, the result is that it is doable, but the photo is (probably intentionally) make you think that is an olimpionic swimming pool and not 2 small hot tub What did we learn today, kids? Think with your head, and if you can't, ask on reddit (be sure you are in the right subreddit)
