Yeah, the Dave who, that night, takes sword twirling really seriously because he met some sword twirler backstage and heâs trying to impress her because this one is differentâŠthen forgets about her before heâs done twirling her sword
The YT video of âBlack and Blueâ live from Tokyo was perfect example of how tight and perfect they were as a band back then. Those songs âCabo waboâ âfinish what ya startedâ âmine all mineâ were hurt a little by how bad the production on the album was. They sound way better live.
You can see how much the hand seem happy. A certain maturity?
5150 is awesome.
I'm a fan of both era's.
DLR was my first concert on the skyscraper tour so def not hating.
Can't we all just get along?
I hated this song at first. I think it's because I was surprised to hear the album start with two keyboard songs in a row.
I had every reason to like it, I've always loved I'll Wait and Love Walks In which were both somewhat similar.
Now I'm good with it. It's beautiful.
Growing up I didnât even realize this was Can Halen, I just realized it & I wonder if thatâs because of everything about it being in total contrast to when Diamond Dave manned that horse?
This isn't exactly the original version, but close enough. When they put out the Van Halen video hits DVD, they cut a lot of the bartender scenes that included smoking.Â
If David Lee Roth were in Van Halen, this song wouldn't have existed or it wouldn't have been so magnificently awesome as it is with Sammy! đ
If DLR were still in the band this would have been an instrumental backing Dave's live sword twirling.

DLR was too much into redoing old Motown hits and conflicting with EVH on creative writing!
This is pure pop-rock perfection. I donât love the production on OU812, but man they had some bangers on that album.

Both Sammy and David had their own unique style and I just so happen to like both..this song is without a doubt in my top 3 Van Halen songs
I agree. Itâs much better (in my opinion) to be a VH fan of both versions. So much great music to enjoy.
Yep đ when it comes to music I try not to be too picky and miss out on something.but when I find something I like oh boy itâs like Christmas đ€©
I remember when the first cut of Sammy singing for Van Halen played over the air wave while I washing dishes in an Italian restaurant.
Hell yeah! I donât remember the exact time but I know I was very happy đ
This has one of the best bridges ever. The angelic background vocals of Mike and Ed, and then Sammyâs voice soars with âyou can feel!â
Absolute perfection.
Ou812 is so good, this is the 'boring' song. It's amazing, but the rest of the album kills.
God I LOVE this song

Yeah there are a couple of ballads that I faintly remembered being soft rock staples back in the day, but didn't realize they were Van Halen.
I didnât mean to write âcan Halen,â I respect Sammy a lot more than that would suggestâŠI really like right, now!
This song rips
I canât believe itâs been 4 years since he passed.

My favorite Van Halen song ever. đ
Man that chord progression after the intro is stellar.
After all of these years, the question still remains⊠Whatâs the click?
I think itâs simply hitting drumsticks together with reverb.
Ugh I donât understand how people can like both awesome Van Halen and this adult contemporary dreck
Is that Journey?
Whatâs this doing on this sub. This is fake Van Halen. Get out of here with this doohickey nonsense
Great song! Sammy lifted them to a different and better sound. IMHO.
Hot garbage.
I'm glad they changed the title of this from the original When it's Gay
They can gay me up all day longâŠ.
Haha good answerđ
