I’ve never seen any normal Katsu Curry in any menu, let alone a vegan one.
Idk why we don’t have it. Maybe in some obscure asian restaurant they do, but do far I’ve never seen one.
In the UK they are everywhere 😭
This and sausage rolls…
Before I was vegan I almost always ordered Katsu curry in places like Wagamama. But after, it lost a bit of the appeal when I realised I could make something almost as good at home. Not exactly the same, of course, but in the ball park
If you have an oriental shop or supermarket in the city, look for [this](https://www.worldfoodshop.com/products/sb-golden-curry-medium-hot-220g?variant=41159445905598¤cy=GBP&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw1K-zBhBIEiwAWeCOF161Bmn3pg70HksESXIVx0PIx8BbWz36583xw-MlNe3bpVM__vg1qRoCv7cQAvD_BwE)
It's super easy to use, I have katsu at home all the time now!
Doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew). It has everything I love: veg, tofu, saltiness, broth. And a bowl of fresh fluffy rice to soak up the salty broth. I could eat it forever and not get tired of it!
Had a supermarket-bought vegan Caesar salad with orzo, dressing, salad, walnuts and vegan cheese last week in Berlin. It was €3.99.
Honestly one of the nicest things I ate all week; and there were a lot of vegan choices. Ended up keeping the packaging so I could try and make it at home.
Lentil shepherds pie but it has to somehow be my version, made by me. It can’t just be any lentil shepherds pie. And it has to come with the vegetable sides as well.
Yes! I love making this too, recently started using gnocchi on the top instead of mash (I’d run out of potatoes somehow) & not only does it save time on peeling & mashing potatoes it’s pretty good texture wise as the top gets crispy & the underside of the gnocchi is a soft & bit like mash. I made one last week & my meat eating partner nabbed my leftovers proclaiming how tasty it was. Like yeah buddy I know I made it & I had dibs on the other half of it 🙄 add your fave vegan cheese on top too if you really love yourself, which you totally should because let’s face it if we can’t love ourselves who will 😂
I love the spicy and comforting umami flavours of Sichuan cuisine so for me it would probably be Ma Po tofu on rice or perhaps Yu Xiang eggplant/aubergines (also on rice).
My grandma used to make this Sri Lankan style coconut curry with prawns, but I use seaweed instead for the umami flavour.
It’s great with white basmati rice, but I could literally live off of the curry alone.
And it actually makes sense to have them for the rest of your life because they’re lush warm AND cold. So you wouldn’t even need to put that much effort in half the time. Just straight to mouth.
Need recipe for delicious aubergine potato stew please!
I'm voting for Bosh Guacaroni - recipe googleable. Basically macaroni pasta with guacamole sauce.
I'd surely get bored of pretty much anything if I had to eat it for every meal, I'd probably get more fed up of it was something healthy. So, despite eating healthily most of the time, I'd probably go with burger, chips and veg. And if it shortens my life, it will at least be a sooner end to the monotony of eating the same meal all the time.
Spicy mixed bean stew and brown rice with sides of steamed kale, avocado, fried plantain, and kachumbari (East Africa salsa).
Should have all my dietary needs covered!
Hard to choose but I'm a big fan of chickwheat... Either harrissa chickwheat with flatbread, tomato and greenbean salad and tahini dressing, or, chickwheat fajitas with peppers, onions, avo, salsa, and chipotle mayo.
Ramen, all day, every day. Smoked tofu and button mushrooms cooked in soy, ginger, garlic and teriyaki. Broccoli tips, gyoza, noodles and miso soup. My favourite thing ever.
You know, a good bowl of porridge has divinity written all over it! You have to have the right oats mind you, and Flahavan's organic jumbo oats have been the pinnacle found in the oat department. Then the infinite customisation options that this happiness in a bowl can offer, pinch of ginger maybe, a clove because why not, blueberries, walnuts, some chia. Perfection. Healthy. Warmth. Everything.
Tofu katsu curry. Ive had bad tofu katsu curry and ive had excellent tofu katsu curry but regardless I always mop it up.
Urgh now I want one haha I’d demolish a wagamamas Vegatsu
Same What a shame I live in Portugal now, so no more katsu curry for me :c
Why? What's preventing katsu in Portugal?

Oh but it's dead easy to make. The Japanese curry is very easy. stuff in breadcrumbs a bit more messy but still not hard.
Thanks, I’ll try to make one myself some day :’)

Thanks! I’ll try to find it!

Fuck that looks nice (google results). Will need to try it ASAP
I think i would go for kimchi jjigae for the same reasons + spicy
I'm just surprised to see the word eggplant in veganuk! Aubergine!
Plenty of Americans and Canadians live in the UK :)
The is why we voted Brexit! To stop the immigrants! (Just joking, I'm an immigrant! :-P)
If ur gona liv ere u beter lern the language lyk us brits
I left the uk 10 years ago! Am a British immigrant in spain ;-)
Berenjena then!
lasagne
Tofu scramble with all the spices and some veggies 🥗
Yesss! that sounds delicious
Spaghetti bolognese. It was my favourite dish as a kid and now I make it the exact same but with vegan mince. It’s like a hug in a bowl for me
Any type of cooked potato, I honestly could live on just potato.
My life is potato
baklava

Try artichoke in a home made Caesar salad . Delicious !
I went to Berlin in 2018 and still think about the vegan currywurst I had at curry at the wall
Currywurst sauce is really easy to make. Just ketchup and a few basic spices.
Probably channa masala and roti
Home made mince and dumplings, mash. Swede, and spring greens
The best of the best.
OP please give your recipe! :)
Yeah and in general there’s a disappointing lack of recipes on this thread
Probably a weird one, but tinned mushy peas. The ultimate comfort food and not unhealthy.
Veggie Haggis, neeps and tatties

Fajitas all day long

A block of smoked tofu
I bloody love smoked tofu
Daal bhatt (lentil curry and rice) with pickled veg on the side. I ate this loads in Nepal, and love making it now. Even my kids mop this up.
This might be me too! Love urad too.

Pastitsio, it's a Greek lasagna with bechamel sauce and nutmeg
We’re having this for dinner tonight and I’m SO excited. Do you know of anywhere that has good pastitsio pasta?
pesto pasta, with a glass of shandy and biscoff biscuits for desert. i ate it almost everyday for 3 years straight
Refried bean or Quorn pieces wraps. Alternatively tomatoe-y Mediterranean veg gnocchi with silken tofu stirred through and fake bacon bits on top.
Hard to choose but I'm a big fan of chickwheat... Either harrissa chickwheat with flatbread, tomato and greenbean salad and tahini dressing, or, chickwheat fajitas with peppers, onions, avo, salsa, and chipotle mayo.

Creamy hummus, tomato, and spinach pasta. It's so simple, so I eat it all the time and never get bored.
