I have some Kenwood amps (KA-7050R, 7090R, A-1001) and some active subwoofers sporting that feature. I like the humming sound of the motor. 😅

My 1989 CD Deck does the same. It's a motorized pot probably made by Alps.
I had an early 90s Sherwood that did this, unfortunately it was probably the best thing about that receiver.
