10 Items max, nothing that involves scales at our store.

bootstrapper_

I've never enforced a limit but they have scales there. If they have a lot I just told them that it interferes with being able to checkout customers who are buying stuff from that department that is locked up.

Joey566578

My store doesn't have scales in electronics.

DepressedTrashKitty

Heyyy same at my old store

nothinfollowsme

> 10 Items max, nothing that involves scales at our store. Ditto for my store. Our dept doesn't have scales thankfully. We also had to tell people no "split-transactions" because a lot of them would just divide their cart and would pay for just "their stuff". It's hard to perform our jobs as ESA's when we are stuck doing front end work.

Loganistic

Same I’ve been given full authority to tell people no when they try this shit

Volume-Few

Same

armobear

Not at my store. No scales. No bags. If you have a few items. They will scan it.

IzzaPizza22

Yup. We have the right to refuse to do an entire cart. We're not designed for it, and checking out isn't the only thing we do. If management tries to tell you otherwise, offer to call them to handle every time a customer tries to do this so that you can take care of your responsibilities and help other customers that actually need you.

Ocelotofwoe

I'm jealous. We aren't allowed to turn people away. The last time I gave a lunch in electronics, I was forced to check out someone with 2 buggies because they bought a camera. A TL at least came by and helped me bag the shit. The customers needing cases unlocked were pissed.

austinwm1

Nah the real ones know the secret secret checkouts there's 2 of them and that's all I'm saying.

Active-Succotash-109

Yes the alternate scan and go from before Walmart +

Circumvention9001

Y'all ain't even around half* the time lol

Kimmalah

They're not around because floor associates are not cashiers and they have a million other things to do.

CougarIndy25

Electronics in my store is required to be manned all the time. However, we also have things to do in the department such as stocking shelves, prices changes, phone audits, mod updates, zoning, run photo, do carryouts for TVs, and finding L-carts for customers, cleaning the department too, and I'm sure there's more I'm missing.

FallArchive

Run the fabric counter as well in my store.

CougarIndy25

That too. And helping in home goods, hardware, and sporting goods too. Plus getting pulled to OGP and Front-End as well. And handling returns for the department, and writing claims tags for any goods we find that are damaged/stolen. A true swiss army knife position at walmart. I feel like you can take an Electronics person and put them in any spot in the store and they would be able to do the job with minimal instruction.

Electrical-Topic-808

They’re still not around, or at least they don’t act like it.

mystedragon

because we have to stock shelves. our job isn't to stand behind the counter and coddle you.

Electrical-Topic-808

I mean answering their walkies and phones, mother fuckers in my store won’t answer anything till you walk back there, see them just talking to each other and letting the phone ring as they do it

DildoeBagginz

You’re full of shit but go off

Electrical-Topic-808

I’m not… but okay. Glad you work at my store too and know that

Circumvention9001

But I'm saying we should at least have one person in electronics at all times. Trying to buy something before or after my shift is just always impossible lol

mystedragon

that's why you use SCO

GrnPlesioth

Same at my store. It also helps that as a cashier I'm extremely slow and only have a single bag holder so bagging lots of stuff takes an eternity. I've never had a person do it twice.

liveandletdieax

That happens to me at jewelry. My hand scanner died so I wasted both our times hand keying everything just to be a dick. My counter has less space than any other register in the store.

Zeik188

Just do what pharmacy does. 5 items or less. If it’s not, send them up front.

geri-in-calif

Our pharmacy is 5 items or less, no alcohol, no weighed produce. And no A L C O H O L.

serenwipiti

pls, don’t do this to pharmacy unless you’re picking up a Rx….^jfc

tomytronics

"Dear, I only have one check left in my check book and no credit card. You can let me carry 3 new PS5 to the checkout lane up front or you can check me out here"

Sanbi221

What store has three PS5’s?

LowtierWaifuu

We have about 30 PS5 ☠️

stupidfool101

Happy to help. You can pick up your 3 ps5s at the service desk. Have a great day!!

Impressive-Brief3894

"Love, I will be happy to escort you and 3 new PS5 up front and hand you over to a full register."

Kooky_Summer_5298

Yea that’s not how it works lol I would tellthem I’m not taking a check for over 1500$

chico4300

Same here then customers will get mad cause you don’t have bags if you’re nice enough to check them out

Captain0545

Yeahhhh... Except we can, and will, refuse to check you out 😂😂

Free_Leader1495

This is the kind of stupid shit that gets me confused. This dude says “Fast pass”, ah no sir your an idiot. Ppl making shit harder on us for no reason yet again.

TrinityRain

Exactly! I had to do price checks the other day because "TikTok said it was only $20". I had to explain not everything on line is true.

JojoDreamstar

"You really think someone would do that; just go on the internet and tell lies?"

[deleted]

“Ma’am, do not be fooled, for TikTok is a massive Chinese spy program made with the intent to sabotage the lives of United States of American retail store associates.”

[deleted]

Between lack of employees and a great quantity of customers, Electronics always takes *forever* if you’re just there for something in lockup. Self-check is faster.

[deleted]

I cover different Walmarts as part of my job as a vendor. Electronics team leads tell their associates not to check out anyone that isn’t electronic related. They won’t do carts full of groceries.

kaazir

It's kinda store dependent. The surveys aren't as strong as a metric any more but some SMs will still have you do anything a customer asks.

TheOhioRambler

I repaired the photo lab printers for years and never saw anyone checking out with groceries there or in electronics, but there were certain stores where it wouldn't have surprised me at all. I know it's also an issue in grocery stores with a dedicated liquor store because they won't have a scale or the counter space to bag carts full of stuff.

kaazir

Personally I've seen it more in TLE. I'm a meat associate now but there were times I helped hold it down in different areas. I had such anxiety when I'd give a break at the TLE register and someone comes up with like 300$ in groceries and there's like 6 people behind them who just want like a wiper blade and their keys back.

Magusreaver

I mean. I worked in Electronics for years. I ALWAYS refused groceries, never got in trouble.. but if stuff from sporting goods, or toys made it over I had no issue ringing them up and sending them on there merry way. (it can be a huge pain to get help in sporting goods at my store, and more often than not we ended up with keys to auto, sporting goods in electronics anyway).

Kaysmira

Yeah, our store never put anyone in sporting goods after like 3 p.m. so the majority of customers helped over there, who came in after school or work, were helped by our electronics team, who were also covering the Hardware paint counter and photo. I felt bad ever asking them for anything because they were always running back and forth.

cocainebane

My local Walmart doesn’t even like selling my camera film located in their electronics section - I know they won’t do groceries.

Zsean69

Bruh this has been happening in garden center for years. It was awful when I worked there checking out 600 dollars worth of food at 1 register then watching other depts very obviously avoid helping when we needed it. But then demanding we help them when very under staffed.

Odd-Communication159

I absolutely can’t wait to say no 10x more frequently now Edit: wasn’t meant comment under you this was a general comment

Zsean69

All good haha

SeasonalNightmare

Yep. Same issue with the set up? (I only have two bag places and a small area to use for bagging.)

Zsean69

Yup only 2 registers 1 of which we never used and even if we did it was because we were in desperation mode under staffed because morons would bring their 7 months of food to check out there

Head_Razzmatazz7174

We had 4 registers in garden, and only two of them ever worked. I cannot ever remember going back there to have cashiers at both of them. There was also a phone out there that the associates were supposed to answer. I only did once, when I was covering someone's lunch. The customer asked some very specific question about one of the plants we sell and I had to confess that I was just there to cover lunch and had absolutely no clue about anything plant related. Luckily they understood and said they would call back later.

Jolly-Ad1371

We had this issue at my store. Four fully functional registers and they would normally have one slow person on it. I always would get pulled to assist, then nothing would get done in the department.

Famous-Perspective-3

and to think, I always thought people used the electronics check out so they can pick up addition items as they push the cart to the door...

JustinS1990

And then realize electronics doesn't have the ability to scan anything that needs to be weighed, at least at my store.

Kimmalah

People try this "trick" at the jewelry counter as well and we have the same issue (no scale). It also takes way longer, because our counter is tiny so they can only put up a few groceries from the cart at a time and I have to open each shopping bag individually by hand because we don't have the normal bag carousel thing. If they had just stopped acting like huge impatient babies and either used the self-check or just waited in line a moment up front, they could have already been out of the store in the time it takes me to check them out at that counter.

BlkGirl181

Yup same in the vision center. No scale and we have to open each bag and honestly my vision center gets pretty busy so it takes away time from checking out our actual patients. The coaches in my store tried this last year around Christmas time because they had a bunch of lines but we only checked out like one person and told her that was it. We have to get back to our customers.

BoardImmediate4674

Yeah the store by me no groceries allowed to be checked out in electronics. My favorite was I was working express lane 15 items or less and ppl would come with a cart filled up and try to use express ma'am that's too many items this is 15 items or less. Customer: can I do multiple transactions here? Again it happened to me over 20+ years ago

chimmelrick

And they think I won't tell them to go up front lol

Kimmalah

Self-check is like the fastest way to get out of my store. If you try to check out at electronics you're going to be waiting in line for a while, between all the other people who had the same idea, the people trying to figure out what phone card they need for their "Walmart phone" and the old person trying to get their phone activated by some poor associate who's stuck on hold. I just don't understand all the self-checkout hate. It's fast and it's easy. I use it every time I shop and I'm done in a few minutes, even with large shopping trips.

kaazir

For me large trips for the bi weekly grocery run are done via OGP, other things like I need maybe 10 items I just bang out in self check.

MommaLokiLovesYou

I got a "fast pass" trick for 'em. Just walk out the door fivehead! /s No but seriously I used to do jewelry counter all the time and the amount of absolute idiots who tried to get me to do their full cart with produce is ridiculous. No scale, tiny bags. We do small shiny shit, not your shopping spree, Mr. I-Came-In-For-One-Item-Oh-No-What-Happened.

DarkLordKefka

Electronics associates always got the short end of the stick at my store. I never took groceries to electronics to check out. Maybe if I had one or two things as well as an electronics purchase. This is just going to make life even harder for those associates.

randomgroceryperson

I’m so tired of these articles and memes about self checkout. It gets regurgitated most of the time when I suggest to a customer to go through them.

ebahm13

These articles always showcase the knuckle draggers/tik tok users of society. "Look what I deescovered erybody du huh huh! "

pikapichupi

lol at my old store we woulda told her to go to the front, any of the service areas would, less than 20 items go to the front

Plus-Contract7637

They used to do this in our garden center, until they closed the entrance and registers out there.

DarkOverlord2099

Haha I worked electronics for 3 years, no scale and would cash people out with more then 10 things or if they had no electronics stuff. Loved turning old people away that had cart loads of groceries. Whoever wrote this article is an idiot and anyone that listens to it is gonna get turned away and told to wait in like at the front

stolirocks

yup. and they go there even if its busy as hell in electronics and make us do it. oh well, i get paid the same. i just make sure to move painfilly slow to piss them off.

liveandletdieax

That’s what I do if they pull me to register lol

TShane85

Ok so I get this all day everyday in ACC. People there that actually need service have to wait. The counter isn’t designed to check out a large amount of items. Especially groceries. People say “oh I just park back here because it’s more convenient for me”. The ACC counter is for people need various services not for lazy people that think have discovered some secret hack. Anyway, I’m pretty sure I can’t turn them away.

Head_Razzmatazz7174

Ours would. People would drop their cars off, go shopping and when their car was ready would come back with a huge cart full of stuff they expected to be able to pay for at ACC. There was a huge sign on the counter that said something to the effect that you can't pay for regular groceries there. People would still try it. It was a 50/50 chance that they would either go back to the main checkouts or just leave the whole cart there once they had paid for their car.

[deleted]

I’m an associate and I was at customer service last night returning something and some guy just went up to the counter in the middle of my transaction to express checkout 6 frozen breadsticks and the cashier told him we were in the middle of something and he yelled “FUCK” and stormed off.

rickde40

Munchies are a serious Matt

redmambo_no6

>The (U.S.) Sun 😑

NeighborhoodSome698

Our store is check electronics items only in electronics. Weird, I know

MjrPayne95

Lol my electronics guys would laugh at them

ResidentCoder2

I only ever take a few items back to electronics, and nothing that needs scales or a lot of effort. As a former associate, I get the frustration, but thank you to those who work electronics.

jigglypuffbird

lmao "people are just realizing". nah people have known about it in my area, but it's entirely up to the associates discretion whether we say yes or not and we don't have a scale, so no produce. if you have an electronics item and a few bigger items, sure, but don't expect good bagging. if you don't have any electronics items but we're slow and i'm not doing anything, sure, whatever, but same thing about the bagging. if we're busy and you want me to check out your cart full of shit, hell no go up front, i don't have time for that and other people who actually want something from my department take priority.

[deleted]

I hate these kinds of jackasses who think they’re so bright with their suggestions like “fast pass” and etc 🙄

HappyDay2290

Scan and go is the fast pass.

CuppaJoe11

You want a fast pass? Get scan n go.

MatsuzoSF

I think every outlying register has this problem. It's just up to what your department's policies are on it and whether they're willing to enforce them or not. I hear 10 items or less + no produce scale is fairly common. I know in my store's ACC we are absolutely allowed to turn full carts away, especially if we have people waiting for service orders.

Jacobo5555

And to walk to the back to do this is dumb

inflatableje5us

Chris Bradford needs to suck a bag of ducks.

liguy89

Super express less than 5 items.

[deleted]

Why am I even surprised that the electronic associate have to check out customer groceries but I mean I understand that they are in the hurry but I recommend all customers to check out at the front because we can help them too.

MegaPorkachu

Illegal/Unethical LPT: Here’s a secret way to “fast pass” all of the checkout lines, even the whole paying for your groceries process as well as having the door guy check your receipt Just walk out with your groceries and not pay for them. ^/joking

Chrononah

When I still worked at Walmart it was kinda just reserved for associates on lunch. My store was in the middle of Dallas and after 5 every register would have super long lines. So I would grab my lunch from the deli and just head to electronics. At some point some customers saw this and tried and were promptly told that any more than 5 items they wouldn’t be checked out.

JediFed

This is easily solved, 10 items max which is at our registry in RX too. Have fun 'skipping' the lines.

Tylan_Maul15

As an electronic associate, my boss has told me that we can turn away people who have more then 20 items and we can’t do multiple transactions for the same person. And we can’t do any weighable produce.

moviemoocher

no matter how hard you try you cant buy bananas in sporting goods

Risho96

The front end still has staff registers

LeagueMysterious2896

Can we just get rid of tiktok already

Family-man24

Fast pass lol

zonianjohn

It's also an AP issue to ring merchandise in electronics Because they then have to go through the entire store to get to the outside with the buggy full of stuff that you don't know if they paid for or not

vAdachiCabbage

I had people try this shit when I worked cosmetics, I would tell them I either didn't have a scale for their produce or that I can only do small amounts, less than 4 bags worth of stuff, nothing like seeing some overly self-centered asshole think they're smarter than everyone else just to get shut down and now have to go stand in a line for longer than if they would have just gone to the front-end like everyone else.

GearNerd85

Scan and go people SCAN AND GO. Try it and it will change your self. Idk if i would pay for walmart plus if i didnt get it for free but Scan and go is the best thing to happen in a long time. i wish they would take out all the normal registers and fill it with self checkouts.

SirNeto03

We got a sign on our counter that’s says 10 items or less

Mmjuser4life

I thought the checkout in electronics is so you can pay for items that u r not permitted to walk away with. I would feel so weird walking up the poor boy / girl and start to unload an entire cart of groceries onto that little shelf. You’d have to be a fucktard idiot to think “secret checkout” when you look at it

kaazir

The people that do seriously believe they are the main character. These are the "The customer is ALWAYS RIGHT" folks.

Samwaltomsbottom

They are going to have to wait just as long. We have one maybe two electronics associates at a time, and they are usually helping customers anyway so good luck thinking they will fast pass their way through this

sal_100

Why not just use the app?

Under_Construction30

They try to do that to us in pharmacy. I tell them no. We have real pharmacy customers that we need to help. I’m not standing in there with a thumb up my ass waiting for people to bring me a cart full of shit. Unless u have a pharmacy related purchase, go back to the check lanes

LemonPartyWorldTour

I did this once with like 4 small items in the tire center because I just got an oil change and I felt like an asshole. I can’t imagine what level of self-centeredness it’d take to go to electronics with a pile of groceries.

unlimit3dp0wer

I will do small orders if its not busy but no scale.

MonitorStandard3534

Another one of Rupert Murdoch's venomous publications destroying the brains of Anglophone readers.

Owned_by_cats

Also, no EBT (welfare, food stamps)

SodiumFTW

My electronics doesn’t have a produce scale. Checkmate

d3athgrl

I work in cosmo and get the same shit. I always refuse people who have more than like 10 things. You can say no lol.

Laundry0615

Yeah, the pharmacy was a favorite when I was working there. No conveyor belt and no scales to weigh veggies and fruits, but why not take your $200 cartful to the pharmacy? It's not like we are doing anything else.

Ok-Fix-4958

Joke is on them. They'll walk all the way back to electronics and realize there's nobody back there either.

[deleted]

Lmao my store manager would shut that shit down in a second if it backed up at all. That is the associate fast pass at my store.

Kyllerflynn13

I would refuse this when I worked in electronics. As far as I'm concerned (and pretty sure it is) it counts as express. Plus we don't have a scale for produce. Basic stuff or only one or two things while there's a huge line up front? No problem. Two carts worth of crap? Nah man, gotta go up front.

CollectionVirtual344

Same our electronics dept doesn't have weight scales built into the registers

[deleted]

isn't it 20 items for electronics, Tle, Gun counter? none of which at my store have scales to weigh any thing.

MulletGiraffe

The electronics registers don't have a scale in my store, so no produce.

bebegimz

Have to find an associate in Electronics, so good luck on that

gothgrl11

People are so lazy anymore do you think they will actually take the time to walk to the back of th store to check out??LOL

Lilinrelle

We don’t have anyone in electronics in my store. It’s just team leads from front end that end up doing anything back there

bigdish101

# Or Garden...

BlackDogDexter

Or they can just walk out the door. People Greeters can't stop them.

Lunick01

I'll admit I've used places like Electronics to skip the line. I only do it when I've been doing scan and go so that they can. Just scan the one barcode instead of struggling with bagging stuff.

RoobyDooby621

Garden Center checkout sometimes is a good option

marikati

These associates are getting their hours cut and some losing their jobs completely so if these employees are getting upset about the increase in demand then they deserve to get their hours cut.

DrummerBrilliant6555

I say get rid of all cashiers and replace all employees with AI! Since it looks like people don't want to work! Cashiers should be lucky they even have a job.

BonsaiSoul

when someone doesn't like SCO: "Just use a human cashier then" when someone uses a human cashier: "how dare you"

mystedragon

except we aren't cashiers. we don't have a conveyor belt or a scale and don't have the setup for a full cart of shit. there's always at the bare minimum one lane during the majority of the day and the customers can wait in line or choke on a dick

jburch92

Man y’all will bitch about anything. Just ring them up. It’s not hard.

tails0600

OK, then what about the customers who actually need help in electronics? Fuck them right?

evs_eden

Lmao I thought the catch was you steal 💀

Cloontange

Whenever i checkout at electronics if I'm not getting anything I just use the Scan and Go barcode so they don't have to bag/scan anything. But since I work at a Neighborhood Market I rarely go to the supercenter

ExamDue3861

Haha most of the time our electronics dept doesn’t even have any cash, so they have to walk you up front to check out.

Azal_of_Forossa

I've told many a people to fuck right off if their buggies have groceries. If you have a drink or a couple snacks idc, but if I'm ringing up more than 5-8 food items I wouldn't ring you up.

[deleted]

Hopefully nb tell them about pharmacy…… or customer service

IceLeather4471

When I used to work there my friend and I (when I worked back there) we would tell the customers that there was a 10 items or less rule

jeez_reddit

We can't do more than 10 items max and we also can't weigh anything 😂 at my store, at least.

Particular_Minute_67

If it's 10 or less things yes but anymore than that and the associate shouldn't check you out

OneBingToRuleThemAll

Ugh I hated this shit when I was working in electronics. You're busy helping customers actually trying to buy the stuff in the department while also trying to work all the freight and then you have some impatient asshole telling you to hurry up and check them out, having the nerve to give you an attitude when you're the only associate working in the department. Also to add icing on the cake when you tell them you have no scale for the produce they just toss the shit on a nearby display and demand to be checked out. Like seriously!?

Throwaway321087642

Ive done this (when I was an associate and knew the person) but I always used Walmart app and scanned all my shit and they just scanned the qr code

twisterv2

Good thing no one in America reads the sun

Dependent_Ad94

Oh boy that so fucking Stoopid 🙄🙄

mystedragon

anyone that tries can go fuck themselves lol. we don't have a scale or the staffing. it's not a "fast pass"

Fake_Gamer_Cat

Idk how people have the balls to bring a full cart back there. I feel bad when buying something from electronics and I just have a snack or drink with me. Personally, they should just make it a policy to limit it to five items or less, but you know these idiots won't listen.

Ok_Instance_9237

Written by the guy who never worked a job until after college, which is just writing this nonsense.

NoPie4712

Just use the scan and go feature if you wanna bitch about waiting like we literally have solutions in place for these impatient pricks and they just don’t give a fuck

Skibrym

If you just bring a few items, nothing that has to be weighed, and we're not terribly busy, sure, I have no problem. You roll up with a half-cart or more, you're going up front. Period. Thankfully the majority of my customers have the decency to at least ask first.

[deleted]

Ours just refuse to do this 🤷‍♀️

whereisjackk

Call a code spark to electronics and tell the customer someone will be with them shortly.

muabreily

I always tell people who do this that I can do it but it’s going to take a while because I only have 1 bag area and I cant do any type of produce and sometimes alcohol won’t work.. people normally then look at me and say something along the lines of “well what good are ya?” Or “so then why do you have registers back here”

HouseOfData

Yeah before I left Walmart I was an Electronics Associate and I HATED when people who weren’t buying shit from us back there would come back there to get checked out…

kaazir

I've only done like others have said in that, if I have a snack and drink and am getting some ear buds I'll do that but thats it.

StonerMetalhead710

There’s a fast pass if you can be sneaky

Mmjuser4life

I had a similar thing at CVS once at the prescription window, they rang her up but by the time she was done scanning (and fucking price checking as the pharmacists assistants don’t know what the price of stuff is if a tag is missing) the prescription pick up line was half way to the front of the store

_x-51

I was expecting the reveal to be shoplifting. It is definitely skipping self-checkout lines- and also has a catch

Wolfyluv

When I see carts full of stuff I tell people it’s faster up front since they have a belt and more space to empty your cart out. I don’t have a big enough counter lol

Thieverpedia

Jokes on them, my store refuses to check out items in electronics if they're not from electronics. Cringe article XD

Triggered_Ppl_Online

Just tell them no. I do it all the time at self checkout. People expect me to ring them up at self checkout if there’s no registers open but i tell them no unless they have alcohol.

CalamityCassie1228

Nooooo that's meant for lower amounts of items, just like the pharmacy and customer service!!

bootstrapper_

There's a limit to the number of items. Some of the employees are absolute Karens about it. I have worked there a lot and I can't even begin to understand why anyone would be so petty about it.

[deleted]

Not at a Neighborhood Market.

CougarIndy25

If you come back Electronics with a cart full of groceries expect a resounding no.

suejaymostly

Why would I skip self check, that's where I get all my free cheese

cocacola31173

We have to pull people to service desk if lines get long. I hate it cause our bagging system is bags hung on a nail! And never fails as soon as I get somebody over there people start lining up for customer service needs!

Greentaboo

My Walmart will only help you out if you have a few items. They will not checkout a full shopping cart in electronics. Even if someone bought a console, they will only ring out the console.

Justin_BentRails

Our store has "regulars" that try and pull this shit once a month in the garden center. At first, I didn't mind, but it grew old real quick. So now I just lie and say our registers are closed.

Top-Nature5873

Oh yall got associates in the electronics section of your stores?? Must be nice.

Bison_Not_Buffalo

I'm not doing a full cart in electronics

JojoDreamstar

It will literally take customers far longer to checkout at electronics than just doing it at self-checkout. People going out of their way to be fucking stupid nowadays.

Cobalt7955

Lol just realizing this????

da_swanks_92

I’ve done this as a customer I’ll admit. But I’ve bought something from the electronics department and have say 5 small things (deodorant, toothpaste, stuff like that) in my cart and ask if I’m allowed to check the items out while I’m there and the associate said yeah no problem and that’s that. But I have seen people with a cart loaded with stuff trying to buy a charging cord and getting pissed off because the associate refused to check out the entire cart after checking out the cord. At least I’ll ask first and it won’t be anything big and a lot of stuff

VincentMac1984

Those poor bastards

BugStep

This is like the 3rd stupid shit I've seen the Sun post.

stardirection-

My parents would sometimes take their full cart of stuff to garden center. That’s usually near where we parked but it felt weird

Newmommalorey

Actually a good idea, the Walmart by me only has the little self check outs working. That doesn’t work when you have a full cart.

[deleted]

ive been doing that at meijers using the deli for small purchases for years.

Confident-Craft-6340

N/A

DrummerBrilliant6555

I just love when people are so dumb they don't realize self checkout is going to take all your jobs! I for one would rather use self checkout then go through the line and listen to a cashier complain about having to work. You have a job!! You should be thankful for it. Instead of encouraging people to go through self checkout. If Walmart wants to save money I say fire all human cashiers and just make it all self checkout.

Azrielenish

Last time I was in electronics for a Walmart, I was just buying an AppleTV for my boss. Nothing extra and no one in front of me bought anything extra, and it still took 45 minutes to get the AppleTV. I don’t blame the workers. I was a manager at a Walmart years ago. I know how it is. It was just busy and opening cabinets takes time. If anyone had brought a cart full of shit to check out there, the line of people would have rioted. LOL

CaptainSquidward747

Self checkout is the best thing to ever happen to retail.

doonebot_9000

Okay but then how do you steal?

Bill_Ist_Here

Less than 15 items with an unless the people are buying like 100 of the same thing at my store. Also no scale. An exception sometimes had to be made when people were buying so much stuff the registers couldn’t handle it, which typically only occurred when people were buying groceries for their entire community.

CrashZ07

I remember when I was a Electronics associate one customer who wanted to buy a TV literally cursed tf out of some lady trying this pull this shit. Was funny af.

dreazyishh

people come ask if they can pay, if they have a lot i day no, but if it’s some little stuff i’ll say sure, a lot of people come to electronics when they just don’t wanna wait 😭

jerrythecactus

I wish the morons writing these articles could experience even just one day as a under equipped associate dealing with dozens of selfish and stupid shoppers trying to "use the super secret walmart checkout they dont want you to know about".

NotreDameFan1234

My store gave me a hard time just buying a 2 liter of soda in electronics (I was walking to break room and lines were bad)

My old store manager forced us to let anyone both in and out of auto, even if they weren't having work done. She also lifted the item restriction on the register there. For a whole ass year I was ringing up full carts of groceries. Sometimes the line would reach the paint counter in hardware. I guess people thought it was a nice little secret to park and check out back there despite the fact they sometimes waited for upwards of thirty minutes because everyone had the same idea. We have no true checkout, only a hand scanner and no scales. I can't tell you how many times I was yelled at for not weighing soup beans and bananas. Like I had a scale and was lying the whole time. Then we got a new store manager who blessedly let us make the exit for garage work only and twenty items or less on the register. Oh those first few months were a doosey but nothing feels better than telling Karen she needs to turn that loaded cart around and head up to the front. It was especially awesome when people parked back there, lied and said they were getting work to get in, didn't actually have work done thinking they could go back out, and had to walk their happy asses all the way around the store back to their car. Oh the sweet joy of witnessing it.

TransitionNo632

Honestly I used to do it when I bought my lunch in the store. But that was like 2 items and I was friends with someone back there. People purposely bringing carts full of shit would just piss me off.

FewAcanthocephala828

We've only got one rack for bags, so using SCO will be faster by a mile. People really will do anything to avoid checking themselves out besides OGP, which is by far the most convenient way of shopping.

Rangerazon

People would bring huge orders through automotive. It was a pain in the ass and we couldn't send them up front unless they had items that needed to be weighed.

You can always tell when the Front End's fucked, because the overflow goes everywhere else, including Electronics. Then they want to pull cashiers from the outlying registers to the Front, and it's like, brother, we're already there.
