Man, this is a mount that I've had for a while and could never remember how I actually got it lol. I vaguely recall caring about archeology for a month.
Archeology is my absolute favourite thing to do in this game. I don't even know why really but I love it. Dungeons and Raids are okay I guess, the best part is meeting lots of cool people but Archeology and Alchemy is where it's at for me lol. I don't play a lot and I haven't been playing long but I spend so much time with Archeology, it's kinda ridiculous really. I've somehow gotten it into my head, that I should get every Archeology mount. I don't even care about mounts but currently the Blue Battle Tank is the only one eluding me. Pretty much the first thing I did in this game, was getting the "Professor" title too. All my titles except one are Archeology titles, the other one is "Recognizer of the Pattern" or something like that and I don't even know, where I got it
As a self proclaimed lore nerd, I wanted to love it. The idea of visiting places around the world and learning more about it sounded awesome! In practice...I just couldn't...
You can just pick up Archaeology in Dalaran -- I didn't have it previously and I was able to train it, get the quest, and get started with no previous experience in it
If you do some of legion stuff you'll get a dalaran hearthstone that will always take you there.
To get there in the first place.....well see now dynamic flying is this really great thing it really lets you see Ashran and the ocean and the forest and another forest and then a city and then up in the sky another city.
Sorry man, gotta fly.
Just a fyi the quest will be there if you already have the mount. I went to do it today, quest giver gave me the quest. Went to highmountain and it should already known in the quest. Checked my mounts and sure enough. So just beware.
I‘m not planning on riding it either, I use the Sandstone Drake or a Dragonriding mount. Archeology is just my favourite thing to do in this game, so I kinda got it in my head, that I should collect every Archeology mount
>The Right Path
You need to dig and farm 600 fragments. I got 150 in about an hour of farming. So if you get lucky with spirit spawns....little over an hour, but up to 4 hours of farming the digsites in Highmountain. The window in which you have to farm and the fragments and complete the quest is the next 2 weeks.
I remember doing some quests in legion and got it, dont remember how. But it has been the mount I always use. Perfect because it is not filling up my screen and can be used as ground and flying.
Yes it is an Archeology mount but I promise you, it won’t take long at all. It took me one hour and the absolute highest I have seen here, was four hours. The Quest will be available up until the 22nd of February, so you still have some time. You could space out your digs over several days, if you don’t find it enjoyable.
All digsites on the continent are going to turn into the correct digsites too, so they will be very close together. The thing is, the Quest is going to disappear for the next 6 months again, after the 22nd of this month, so you‘d have to decide rather quickly, whether it‘s worth it to you or not. I promise it won’t be a bother. Even if you get unlucky and need 4 hours, you can do digs for like an hour or even half an hour a day and you‘ll still make it in time, if you start soon enough
I only started playing this summer, and I am so excited this is up! I figured out the surveying and all that. But for some reason my character is telling me I can't carry anymore fragments after I've picked up 68. Is this normal? Do I turn those in somewhere?
When you press „K“, you open up your profession tab then you click on Archeology and turn your fragments into relics, which you can then restore in your inventory by right clicking them. Maybe this is the problem here because you should be able to collect all 600 without a hitch, you don’t need to turn them in little by little
I am going to forget again, but thank you for trying.
How could you ever forget about a flying ghost moose?
It is one of nature's many mysteries.
Yo come back and grind this Moose!
Good call. I just finished it. I had already forgotten until I saw your comment. Thanks to you as well u/G98Ahzrukal
Amd that's how Moses are born. I am here to serve you are welcome.

Is archaeology still a profession? I still have mine at 600/600. Is there a dragon flight archaeology?
Goes up to 950 with Shadowlands, no Dragonflight Archaeology.
Thank you =)
Well we have "New" Archeology now that's a farming rep grind, where the Rep doesn't actually seem to do anything?
Yeah, I think there are cool ideas with some of it but I don’t like the rep grind aspect. I’d prefer to just go and search. That’s just me though.
Unfortunately there is no Dragonflight Archeology :(
got mine with archaeology back in the day.
As did I. Rarely see other folks with this. My other favorite to pull out is the tan riding camel from uldum. Definitely get questions about that one
I just did it yesterday and it took almost 3 hours of active farming, unless I messed something up it is certainly not under an hour
I mean it takes more than an hour for sure, but less than three! It’s an easy grind but manage expectations on the time to complete.
Agreed, been doing this on and off today for about ~50 minutes total and I'm only around 450 I think
I did it in 70 minutes yesterday. But I had a lot of spirits spawn with good drop rates
Did it today and it took 1 hour and 20-30 minutes
It took me barely more than an hour
That’s great! I would say this is an uncommon experience and you were lucky with spirit spawns.
Do you need any profs for this or can you go in dry
When I got mine, I don't recall doing any archaeology before then so I think you're good.
Ty
FYI- I started my effort today with a skill of 5. Am now sitting on the moose with a skill of 315.
Yes you need Archeology 110 I think
Got it today
You can just pick up Archaeology in Dalaran -- I didn't have it previously and I was able to train it, get the quest, and get started with no previous experience in it
But you still need to grind it to 110+ or can you go lvl 1 into the quest?
You can do it right at lvl1 I didn't level mine at all and the quest started dropping the fragments immediately
Dope. Ty
Psh... sounds way easier than the crap I had to do for it! Archeology was rough back then.
How do I get to the Legion version of Dalaran? I haven’t touched Legion stuff in ages, only came back a bit ago to the game…
Azshara portal and fly
If you do some of legion stuff you'll get a dalaran hearthstone that will always take you there. To get there in the first place.....well see now dynamic flying is this really great thing it really lets you see Ashran and the ocean and the forest and another forest and then a city and then up in the sky another city. The Dalaran Hearthstone was turned into a toy a while ago, so even your chars that have never been there can just use that to get to Legion Dalaran.
You should fly to Dalaran at least 1 time. Otherwise dalaran hs doesn’t work - “you can’t do it right now “
In the main portal room of your main city, there is a portal to Azuna. From there, you can fly east to dalaran.
Ty for the reminder, took a total of 2 hours and change for me! GG

[Wowhead: The Right Path](https://www.wowhead.com/quest=41192/the-right-path) - if you want to check if you did it.
All I'm using is Headless Horseman mount from 2009, thanks though, I'll try but I'll probably forget this in an hour.
Looks ugly, pass. I realize some of you will ride anything to get your numbers up however...
I‘m not planning on riding it either, I use the Sandstone Drake or a Dragonriding mount. Archeology is just my favourite thing to do in this game, so I kinda got it in my head, that I should collect every Archeology mount
You sir are doing the Lord's work. I also found out my archeology is 72/75. I don't think I've touched it since it came out.
Do you need to do it each day during those 2 weeks? Im going away atm and won't be back till Sunday
>The Right Path You need to dig and farm 600 fragments. I got 150 in about an hour of farming. Do you need to complete the Legion questline or something like that?
No you can just go to Legion‘s Dalaran and accept the Quest. You‘ll need 110 Archeology though I think
I just picked up ach on a toon and was able to get the quest.
Thank you, definitely doing it when I get home.
Thanks for reminding people! I got the moose 6 months ago because someone made a post like this.
It was really funny doing this quest this morning. There were several people at every dig site
Isn’t this an archaeology mount? What if I don’t like digging :(
Yes it is an Archeology mount but I promise you, it won’t take long at all. It took me one hour and the absolute highest I have seen here, was four hours. If I start in about a day and do 1 hour a day do you think I could make it?
Yes, you‘d need about 4 days if you get very unlucky. Or it could take you way less than that. For me it‘s the 10th now, so you have 12 days
Sold! Anything to get towards the felfire hawk 🫡
Thanks for the heads up, I just got it, took about two hours.
Is there a list of this rotation? I've been trying to get Wrymy Tunkins since Legion.
None that I am aware of. I found every date for this particular Quest in a comment on Wowhead for the next 10 years or so
Got mine yesterday morning. Started archaeology just to get it, won’t ever touch archaeology again.
I only started playing this summer, and I am so excited this is up! I figured out the surveying and all that. But for some reason my character is telling me I can't carry anymore fragments after I've picked up 68. Is this normal? Do I turn those in somewhere?

Thank you!!
Did it work? Was that the problem?
I haven't logged in yet today, but I will report back
Update: it seems to have worked! Thank you!
That‘s good
I’ve just done it. It doesn’t take long, but archaeology is a snorefest.
I love Archeology. Like 80% of my playtime is Archeology lol
You are the absolute man/woman for reminding about this! Thank you!
"It won't take you more than an hour" Well, after 20 minute of farming I'v found 100 fragments on the 600 required. One hour is very optimistic
I did it this time, solely because I saw this post. Took me an hour and 20 mins or so. Thanks for the reminder!
Thanks for the lovely reminder. I finally got mine yesterday. GJ OP!
