What? We will not be able to update them?

Xbox Marketplace is closing. That means you won't be able to *make any new purchases* on the Marketplace website or through the Xbox 360 console after it has closed. This doesn't affect updates at all, as they are not sold through the Marketplace - they are free and they are downloaded automatically. And you'll also still be able to redownload anything you've ever bought so far, or anything you buy between now and when the Marketplace closes. You won't lose your purchases and the files aren't going anywhere. There will also still be a lot of 360 content (anything that's been made backwards compatible) available for purchase on the Xbox store - that's the newer digital storefront on Xbox One and Series consoles and at Microsoft.com and Xbox.com. So you won't be able to buy, for example, Assassin's Creed from [here](https://marketplace.xbox.com/en-gb/Product/Assassins-Creed/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d802555307d4) anymore, but you will be able to buy it from [here](https://www.xbox.com/en-GB/games/store/assassins-creed/bzc8pxk6s00g). The only things you won't be able to get are digital only titles and DLC that you haven't already bought that aren't backwards compatible. So you have until July to buy anything you need.

Hey bro cheers for all the clear information Do you know if the same will apply for 360 Avatar content? I don't own a modern Xbox so I can't check if avatar content is visible/still used, I have a couple of cool items pinned in case I should buy before the Xbox Marketplace closes.

From what I understood from the official Xbox post is that you won't be able to buy anything from the Xbox Store, I'm not sure if that means the Store from the console, the [Marketplace.xbox](http://Marketplace.xbox) website and also the [Xbox.com](http://Xbox.com) retrocompatible games. I hope only the Store from the console closes. After the store closes you can keep downloading and updating your owned games, it's not like the whole XBL system will be taken down. I hope.

The stores that will close are the 360 console store and the Marketplace Xbox website. The xbox dot com store is not affected and buying 360 back comp games on that store should give you the 360 license.

Front-Grapefruit5036

Nice, good to know. I've been buying lots of 360 games on sale from the [xbox.com](http://xbox.com) site lol I keep checking the trueachievements site for those weekly sales. I guess I should be buying all the DLC for my games before the store closes.

So any backwards compatible games will still be available for purchase after July? Along with their dlcs?

LonkySneak963

Only if available on Xbox dot com. Some, such as Daytona USA were only available through the 360 and are no longer available.

GiveMeAName42069

Okay that’s good to know, thank you! I’ve been primarily focusing on getting non backwards compatible games (physical) and not caring too much for the backwards compatible ones as I figured the dlcs would still be available after shut down.

What about achievements and cloud saves?

From what I remember hearing over the past few years, the live services on 360 runs on the same systems and everything that Xbox one and series x/s run on, so 360s online services will continue to exist pretty much until they feel the need to pull the plug on it. Of course not including any individual games that are server based that devs decide to shut down and the store getting shut down
