Karma requires a certain collective intelligence level for a species to work properly. This is why Karma doesn't apply to animals. This is also why it doesn't work on humans. As individuals, they are intelligent enough to be a sapient species, yet as a collective are too stupid for Karma to work properly.

Shit that checks out.

Listen man I swear I didn't do anything bad But you have a broken arm I know sometimes bad things happen to good people But that's impossible it defies the laws of physics Well I guess we  defy a lot of things Wait what that's crazy and terrible I'm so sorry for you guys

A: “So what did you do to deserve that?” *gestures towards human’s arm in a cast* H: “I tripped on the stairs while moving my friend into his apartment. Turns out that concrete wins against a forearm.” A: “No no, what did you *do*?” H: “I… I’m not sure I’m following your logic here.” A: “What karmic imbalance did you cause to deserve the maiming of your own body? It’s never usually this bad, we all know better than to cause ourselves that kind of harm.” H: “Karma? Oh yeah, I had a friend back home who believed in that stuff. Never really understood it, but it seems to make him happy.” A: “Believed?!? It’s a fundamental universal law! Like, like friction, or gravity, or the ionic thrust quotient. It’s present in all life!” H: “Huh.” *scratches ear* “Yeah humans don’t have that.” A: *stunned silence* … A: “Is the scientific community *certain* that you guys count as life?” H: “It’s still under debate, but with how many human rights activists we have on the case, we’re not likely to lose.” A2: “Yeah… they’re also missing the Klarxon effect and the Theta clause. We don’t know how they exist.” A: *devolves into babbling* H: *turning to A2* “We don’t know how we exist either, to be fair.” A2: “And *that* is exactly why your life classification is under debate.”
