Tennessee was an incredibly popular place to be in 2019-2020 too. Several players on record saying they wanted to be here.
This year we had a lot of coaching opportunities and a lot of people who wanted to be coaches, its really not much deeper than that.
Bowers is firmly within our pick range, of course he’s going to say he’d want to get picked. The higher he gets picked, the more he gets paid.
Tee Higgins is from here and his OC is now the HC, he’s also currently under contract negotiations and that statement is a bargaining chip more than intent. I’m sure he would want to come here, but he also wants to get paid.
I’m not so sure about the raise a family part. Kid freindly in Nashville is a bar that serves Mac and cheese. Other than the Zoo, there is not much for kids to “do” here. The science center has had the same stuff since I was a child 30 years ago.
My kid went to the science center 30 times one year. It didn't matter that it was all the same - that climbing tower in the center is hours of entertainment for them.
Same with the zoo - the giant playground is all they're there for, and they can do that dozens of times per year without getting bored with it.
They will not live in the city. It’s about raising a kid in a place where they can play without fear of theft, kidnapping, hit by stray bullets etc. if the multimillionaires want to take their kids somewhere they just hop on a plane.
I’ve watched it go from kinda slow to insane Atlanta type rush hour stupid in the last 20 years. And it ain’t getting any better in the future with half the country moving here.
Yup. Players are taxed for their game checks based on where the game was played.
So if you come to the Titans that’s automatically at least 10 game checks you don’t get taxed on between our 8 home games and 2 away games at the Texans and Jags
I’m an out of state fan and TN’s income tax laws were the first thing I thought of, though that’s been the case for a while and it didn’t seem to be such a draw before now. So…idk!
i follow hockey alot closer than football and Yzerman when he was GM of the TB Lightning used that to get alot of players to take team friendly deals. Gotta flex every advantage your team has
I get what your saying and I agree but using Bill as an example it’s stretching it. He isn’t coming here because he wants to be in TN he is coming so he can be with son and help him succeed. That’s not the same.
Obviously, the offseason has yet to pick up steam so a lot of this is speculation. Tennessee may very well ***not*** be as popular as it currently feels it is but it’s still a very different feel than what we’ve experienced as fans in the past several seasons. Even when Tennessee was winning games and looking like a force, it seemed like attracting big names in free agency was a tall task. Time will tell but I feel it’s fair to be optimistic about how things have you so far.
Low cost of living, low taxes, decent weather, pretty centrally located, Nashville is a fun town...
Why wouldn't it be?
Your money goes A LOT farther in Nashville than it does in new York or la or Chicago or SF or miami.
Nashville is becoming a destination city more and more every day. Even when the team may not be attractive the city alone will become a bigger asset every year
Now that California is fucked, Nashville and Austin are arguably becoming the next big destination for people to move to. And Tennessee is one of the few states that has good laws, and isn’t plagued by this whole woke stuff. So yea Tennessee is definitely becoming more popular, I’m happy I don’t live in Nashville though lol must be a nightmare trying to drive to and from work everyday.
Brian Callahan could just be saying that now that he has the job
Dennard was a steal no two ways about it
Bill was always gonna come if Brian did
I’m bullish on Hardegree, haven’t heard too much about him
Brock Bowers wanting to play here is cool, but we probably need Oline more
Tee Higgins is from TN so it checks out that he wants to come back
Sorry for playing Devils advocate but it had to be done🫠
Compared to who? Compared to the panthers and Browns, yes. Compared to the teams that are routinely in the playoffs, I doubt it. Maybe after a year or two of success under this coach.
I think it depends on where you’re from, but also the income tax for these guys making millions definitely is a factor. I grew up out west in Arizona and California and went to my first Titans game back in 2018, didn’t come away that impressed. I can see the appeal for sure, but the whole country music theme isn’t for me, I’ve actually hated country music my whole life. I also get that it’s a big party scene, but I grew up in Scottsdale and Southern California and have had my fair share of Vegas trips, so it’s not like anything I haven’t experienced. As far as the rest of the state, I have family in Memphis that I visit and I have nothing good to say about that place… and I have no desire to visit and of the other cities. That’s just my personal pinion though, I think people from other parts of the south, Midwest and rust belt probably vibe with it more, but I’m the kind of person the will never leave the southwest/west coast.
I think the media masks a lot of what players/coaches actually think. 1) I don't think there are many teams that people flat out don't want to go to unless you have truly toxic ownership like the Panthers or something. And 2) coming from someone who has never lived in Nashville but has lived in Texas and Georgia, Tennessee is a pretty state. Good climate. Nashville's a good time. There's plenty to like. I don't buy into the state tax thing because as someone who lived in Texas, they more than made up for it with other taxes.
I also really think Ran has a lot to do with it. We've been hit over the head about how much football people like him to the point I get tired of hearing it. But there's obviously truth to it...the dude has relationships and he seems to be highly respected.
And for what it's worth, Vrabel's a big part of that. We were a laughing stock, and he helped put us back on the map (mostly by offering to cut off his manhood for a SB). I'm hoping Callahan and crew can build on that and take us to the next level.
As an NFL fan who isnt a titans fan no, maybe from a fan perspective it seems so but from an outsider perspective it looks like a bunch of nobodies minus higgins and bowers. Look at bad teams like the commanders still being chosen for kliff kingsbury over the raiders. That doesnt make it an attractive destination.
Titans have one of the best defensive lines in the league and the most cap space in the league heading into free agency, with a young QB already chosen.
Of course this is a destination. When you consider that every team has a few holes, while we may not be a contender next year - we gotta remember what division we are in and the fact is that this team will absolutely be competing for the division next year.
Patch up LT, add a starting WR, and get production out of the secondary and this team will compete for the division (and thus, the playoffs.)
Even this year with all the problems we hung around for longer than we should have.
Landry, Simmons, and Key will give us enough pass rush to stay in games and if there's any secondary at all we might just win more than we think. Especially if we can find an offense that threatens somebody.
I predict the Callahan Titans score 30 in the preseason.
No state income tax…lower crime, better schools, night life, republican moral minded society.
Who would want to be in New York, Baltimore, Atlanta, Seattle, Detroit, Chicago, etc…
Nashville is where it’s at.
I think they want a place to work and live in a place they can enjoy, feel safe and comfortable with their families

Or a rich adult that wants to be single
Probably better for that than raising a family. Good for both though
I guess I'm just poor idk how anyone can afford to live in the city
By signing a multi million dollar NFL deal

Bro casually talking shit about the science center. I lost my virginity in the observatory!
Let’s be honest here. We have the Kevin Kaesviharn of children’s museums in Nashville.
They will not live in the city. It’s about raising a kid in a place where they can play without fear of theft, kidnapping, hit by stray bullets etc. if the multimillionaires want to take their kids somewhere they just hop on a plane.
Yah. The traffic is fucked.
Recently, I tried to get Hattie B’s after a Preds game and I nearly cried real tears when I saw the length of the line.
Online order
Walking in past the line to pick up my order is one of my greatest pleasures. The looks people give me are amazing 🤣
I always have at least one person saying something to me when I just casually walk in 💀
McDougal's is better
Mcdougals doesn’t feel like a comparable place though.
It's that bad so basically it's like the Chick-fil-A drive thru
At least it’s not DC or Atlanta traffic
Or Chicago, or NY, or Philly, or Seattle, or boston.... People complain about nashville traffic, and yeah it sucks, but traffic sucks in most cities
But It’s absolutely trending in that direction!
I’ve watched it go from kinda slow to insane Atlanta type rush hour stupid in the last 20 years. And it ain’t getting any better in the future with half the country moving here.

Before the past ~5 years we were an absolute dumpster fire of a team/organization
i follow hockey alot closer than football and Yzerman when he was GM of the TB Lightning used that to get alot of players to take team friendly deals. Gotta flex every advantage your team has
No state income tax, and as expensive and full of traffic as it is, it's still not nearly as bad as a lot of major cities.
Everyone is from here apparently
I get what your saying and I agree but using Bill as an example it’s stretching it. He isn’t coming here because he wants to be in TN he is coming so he can be with son and help him succeed. That’s not the same.
Bo Hardegree is from Jackson so he is now two hours away from home
Tennessee doesn’t have state Tax
He came cause he has a young QB and an ambitious GM he can work with.
Nashville is a desirable place to live. But I think this is mostly of PR101 and saying good things about their new employer or keeping options open.
No state taxes, available cap space, new stadium, relatively safe city, likely to host a superbowl in the next 5 years.
Obviously, the offseason has yet to pick up steam so a lot of this is speculation. Define woke
He means it's a majority Democrat city is all.

This has been happening for a few years now.

Nashville is the destination to party these days.
Yes. Duh. Have you been to Nashville?

hell, yes. left Nashville in '15 to move to the NC coast. deeply regret it after the pandemic-era NJ Infiltration.
